Apple pie with?

Apple Dumplings..now we're talking..
"Granny" rollout the dough, take a Summer Rambo apple, peel it, core it, quarter it, take it, place in center of her dough, make a ball, take sugar, butter, water, cinnamon, heat it, till like a syrup, put dumplings in an ole oie pan, pour the mixture over the Dumplings, bake till done, bout 45+ minutes, basting every so often, you talk about good with milk or homemade ice cream

I’ll be trying that. My best friends grandparents poured milk over chocolate cake. My wife thinks it’s weird, but I enjoy eating it that way. Maybe apple pie this way is just as good.

I'm about to get my Southern card pulled, but I friggin' can't stand pound cake, that is until I saw my FIL pouring milk over top of chocolate pound cake in a cup. Then I poured chocolate milk over my mom's sour cream pound cake and that was equally amazing. Of course, she wrote me out of her will that same day.

My Grandma would make a cinnamon “drizzle” in a saucepan from butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and such that she’d spoon a little (or a lot depending on what you wanted) over the slice just before serving. On special occasions she’d plate the slice, top it with vanilla ice cream then drizzle the mixture over both … it was like main lining sugar 😋

My mom and wife do this with their apple dumplings they make. They may own stock in some bigpharma insulin company.

My wife calls this a Vermont breakfast — it could be apple, blueberry, rhubarb, squash, pumpkin, chocolate, or any pie..
