Apple pie with?

Cheese, specifically sharp cheddar, has been served with apple pie in the U.S. as early as the 1800s. But the combination was likely born in England in the 17th century; a tradition of using dairy-based sauces in pies evolved into an affinity for topping pie with cheese.

My Dad used to put it in a bowl and pour milk over it......

Apple pie goes great with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.

I’ll be trying that. My best friends grandparents poured milk over chocolate cake. My wife thinks it’s weird, but I enjoy eating it that way. Maybe apple pie this way is just as good.

Plain, with cinnamon ice cream, or with vanilla ice cream.

I haven't had it in years but I remember enjoying it.

Citing British cuisine is almost never a solid way to win a culinary argument.

If its a crumb top, nothing. Regular pie top, vanilla ice cream.

Like corn bread and buttermilk?

Cheddar cheese indeed.

Place just off main street in Woodstock, VT. Pie must have been 4"-5" thick and included locally made cheese.

:🤤:

If the pie is sweet enough, just coffee for me with it.

Of the pie isn’t quite sweet enough then vanilla ice cream.

I’ve never tried cheddar cheese with it but coukd see it being good that way. I eat sharp cheddar with raw apple all the time. The two flavors compliment each other well.

I think it’s just a copy/paste from the first thing that came up in google anyway.
Of course… it explains why some have cheddar cheese with apple pie..
now days it is somewhat of a New England upstate NY thing.

also backed leftover crust pieces with cinnamon sugar

Plus strong cheddar cheese and apples are fantastic together. I used to eat a couple of apples, a big lump of cheddar and a big hunk of buttered bread for lunch a lot.

Adding ham -- real ham, not some thin-sliced deli paper -- to that mix also adds a lot. And the sharper the cheddar, the better the sandwich.

Also excellent. I used to get hams every so often from my boss who ran a pig farm with several clay fields (I was a trap monkey). Every so often he'd bring me a canvas sack with a proper smoked ham in it. Some of the best ham I've ever had.

If you're around Greensboro check out Euro Deli Mart for amazing Polish ham and bacon.

that about sums it up. milk and in a bowl , little after it came out of the oven.
my granny made awesome pies, we had a small orchard, summer rambo apples,
home made ice cream was where it was at though. My cousins wife would make
apple pies, go over to the "milk tank" (dairy farm) get a jug of milk, we'd pour that
over the warm pie, you talk about good... peach cobbler also..

My Grandma would make a cinnamon “drizzle” in a saucepan from butter, cinnamon, brown sugar and such that she’d spoon a little (or a lot depending on what you wanted) over the slice just before serving. On special occasions she’d plate the slice, top it with vanilla ice cream then drizzle the mixture over both … it was like main lining sugar 😋

A few years ago I would have said miracle whip, but since moving down here i know the correct answer is duke's (but some people apparently prefer hellmans)

You need immediate psychiatric evaluation. You should probably see an exorcist just to be sure. That is the grossest thing I have ever heard. I wouldn't let my dog eat that.

You're wrong, is what I'm trying to say. I wish I had you on my ignore list, then I wouldn't have read that. I'm sending you my bill from the therapist.
