Operation Eagle Claw was executed to rescue the 52 American hostages being held in the US Embassy in Tehran. It failed, for multiple reasons, and 8 good men lost their lives (3 USMC & 5 USAF) at Desert One.

I remember when this happened, and thought a short post was in order today so others may remember.
