This fell out of a buddies AR. 9mm for scale. Grip was removed recently if that helps.

We have the spring! Whew hew. Sorry I sound like a knob but ARs aren't my bag man. Nice to have this amazing reference site dispite net neutrality.

Make them your bag!

Thing is, you build a couple and you learn a whole new level of hatred for pins, detent springs, retaining springs and pins.

Just don’t build one around young impressionable children.

He’s right. I can put a lower together in record time. But you don’t wanna make a you tube video of me doing it. I sound like the old man in the Christmas Story cussing about the neighbors dogs

Explains the loose safety switch. Thanks!
I cant believe that. Usually they are hiding under the fridge, 20' away from wherever you were standing when they "boinged" off. You need to buy a lottery ticket.

Nothing like holding off on a build because of a $1.34 spring and $8.00 to ship said spring and waiting another week. Makes muh twitch come out.

Put a few together now and I usually save the really good cussing for the front takedown pin detent. Last one I did I think I created a new language by the time I was done.

Anyone concerned with the condition of that 9mm jhp? I certainly am! It looks like it's been through a warzone with all the battle scars on it.

That's my concern too. Once your carry ammo looks like this, its time to break down and buy a new box of hollow points.

You got lucky!!! Lol I keep a small parts bin with springs, detents, and other small parts because I lose them.... I have had to put a build on hold because I lost a tiny roll pin. Never again! Lol

I lost this spring while putting together a lower at the kitchen table. I found it while cleaning up spilled coffee grounds.

I lost it about a year ago and found it a couple days ago. Between the time it was lost and found, we've had new counter tops and flooring installed.

That is what a kahr magazine will do to your cases. The extended cm9 mag will pop out the top round constantly making you have to continually reinsert it.

I launched a detent pin in my cellar a few years back doing a build. Didn't want to have to order one and pay shipping so I told my daughter I'd pay her 5 bucks if she could find it. She went to work and earned herself the 5 bucks, I got back to the build.

And proceeded to relaunch the same f***king pin two minutes later.

Lowers I can do blindfolded. The key is owning one of those little Craftsman ridged flat heads with the pocket clip. What I want to know is the trick to sliding that A2 elevation wheel in without launching the detent bead. One of mine is sporting a link trimmed from a ceiling fan pull chain now.

Be prepared - add one of these to your next order from wherever:

I was just thinking about spare parts the other day when I had a heck of time getting the firing pin retainer in. Realized I would be screwed if I couldn't "fix" it and not break it! Saw the oops kit and intended to order anyway, along with some retainers and a couple of firing pins for good measure. Reading this thread got me in to action, so last night I did just that. Firing pins and retainers from Brownells with free shipping and Cabelas has the kit you linked to for $7.99 with free shipping. I ordered two.

Does anybody have other suggestions as to parts that tend to break and are a good idea just to have on hand?
