I am sure this has been brought up many times but I am going to take a training class for rifles and it suggest a 2 point sling, any idea why 2 point?
Pros and cons of 2 vs 1 point?
What do you suggest as a "good" one but on a budget meaning I don't want to spend $50 or more?

Just my opinions:

- Single points suck for anything bigger than an MP5. A full size AR will crush your balls repeatedly and it lets the muzzle swing around all over the place.

- I like and own the Blue Force Gear Vickers 2 point sling. They make several (padded, etc) but I just use the regular Vickers sling.

There are other good options, like Magpul. You'll also need QD Swivels, and a way to attach to your rifle, so make sure these fit into your budget. Many rifles have attachment points built in. You'll need one at stock area and one at front of handguard. Not sure what gun or furniture you are using.

Here's a little vid by John Lovell which is pretty good for describing slings and sling use.

Yeah, what NKD said. 2 Points, in my experience, allow you to really crank down on the sling and pull the rifle in tight to help with accuracy as well.

This. I have no idea the "proper" much less "tactical" way to sling an AR for work/training. I just know a single point on my chest its me constantly in the sack and slung around back catches my knees during movement unless I use a hand to stabilize it, defeating the purpose. A two point keeps the barrel out of my limbs and crotch for freedom of movement yet the stock stays at my shoulder for easy transition.

Of course I'm both short and round. I have a friend who's about 6'3" 180lbs who prefers a single point and it doesn't seem to ever hamper him.

I cheap out and use midway slings with a single qd on most everything I try so I'm clearly an authority on nothing I just said:cool:

I have a Vickers, a Vtac, and what I am pretty sure is a knock-off labelled as Magpul.

They all work well, I think the Blue Force Gear Vickers may go down a little smaller than the Vtac, not enough to matter, the knock off I think is a MS2 which is discontinued, adjustment is very limited on it could be a product of being counterfeit.

I prefer padded options as I may carry slung for long periods and have a few guns that are pretty fat.

I have no experience with them but the Proctor sling is very affordable, has everything you need to attach it, and appears just as functional, I'll probably pick one up for something.

Ya single point sucks. I have one and it slapped me good in the nads..... I'm also looking for a good sling. Just haven't decided yet.

Yup a single will crush the boys. I like the vickers 2 points from bfg. I wouldn’t mind trying a Vtac too
