My rifle has been leaning against the wall in my bedroom for home protection for years.

I didn’t like the setup but I couldn’t find a better option to mount it that I liked.

I toyed with the idea of making something but could never quite figure it out.

Every few months I would search around the internet to see if there was anything new out.

These guys improved their design. I thought about getting one before the update but didn’t because it didn’t hold the weapon out from the wall far enough to get your hand on the grip.

Came with all the hardware to mount it securely.

Holds two spare mags securely but they slide out easily.

The lip of the mag well slides into a slot on the mount holding it securely.

There’s plenty of room to reach in, grasp the grip and pull it from the wall quickly.

I ordered one of those from Amazon several years ago. The box showed up undamaged but empty. I got a refund and never remembered to reorder.

I'm off in search of one for an AK for my trailer build now.

If you find a good AK wall mount let me know. The old man is looking for one.

Looks nice. Might get one to try.

As an alternative for people that just leave one leaning against the wall, you could buy a hook and turn it sideways. Either build the little shelf like I did on one side, or set it on the ground like I did on the other. I have three shotguns in a closet this way.

I have two similar hooks over a different closet door, but installed the normal orientation…and that’s where option number one is sitting:

Looking at the pics on Amazon, it looks like it can be used horizontally as well as vertically. But when mounting horizontally, the mag can’t be inserted? The magwell slides over the mount instead?

Or could you also keep a mag inserted and just set it in there? I guess proper balance may cause a problem that way, but wasn’t entirely clear how it stayed in there when mounting with the mag inserted.

If you stand the rifle butt on the floor, I highly recommend this little gadget. The benefits are:

Rubber rollers turn against the barrel
Has a plastic bumper (the black round button seen between the rubber rollers when viewed from above or straight on)
Plenty sturdy. The rifle will not come out until you yank it
Pull the rifle straight out. Might be good in a SHTF moment
Cheap as can be

That’s the way I understand it too Greg. Horizontal it slides into the magwell.

I think that’s the display mode. And vertical is action hero mode.

Jeff showed me this and it’s pretty cool.

Definitely looking into this👍

I’ve got mine mounted on the side rail of the bed right now, but that wall mount would work better.

If that ain't a picture of America I don't know what is. Grandma's patchwork throw quilt and an AR. I was fortunate to get a couple more quilts recently from my family.

I ordered a couple wall mounts to try out.

Yeah….my wife’s grandmother made that quilt.

God forbid, if I ever had to shoot someone and that quilt got any “overspray” on it, she’d probably grab her nail file and start stabbing them on g.p….lol

Yeah but you only need a pistol to get to a rifle.

Why not start with a rifle lol.
They make ones strong enough to hold a rifle. I was thinking I could mount them around the house and then forget where I put them all...

Like a true American🫡

Barrel, castle nut and a few other small parts are steel … magnets aren’t to good with 7075 alloy. As to the barrel if your alloy rail covers most of the barrel that’s kinda defeats using ii and the of stuff is iffy on holding an AR’s weight

All of these are nifty, but I’ve got a couple of kids. They are fine and I trust them completely but I’d like my weapon semi locked. I’ve contemplated on of those rfid options that covers the trigger and locks it so if someone gets to it when I’m gone, it’s secure.

Haven’t found something I like yet.

Strong magnets everywhere, including mounted on the gun, invoke visions of comedy situations.

Just happen to see this on a feed. Not necessarily recommending it. It's costly, but the structure was interesting and it gave me some ideas.

Ugh. Biometric. I was like cool till I saw that.

Until biometric devices become completely foolproof count me out.

I can see me trying to get my finger in the right position on the scanner while it keeps beeping at me as I’m stabbed to death.

It did say there was a key bypass, but I don't know how simple it is.

The cheap Stack-On biometric “safe” I keep my EDC in has never failed me in the ~10years or so I’ve had it. Opens pretty quick, like 2-3 seconds. I scanned every finger and never even think about “placement” when I use it.

@Chdamn
Got mine today, 223 AR drops right in, I was hoping the 9mm AR would fit, but the mag well is too wide.
Still a great deal for the money. :)
Now you just have to practice your action hero move.

Throw the covers off, leap from the bed directly to the right spot, simultaneously grabbing the weapon as you shoulder it and point at the bedroom door.

Extra points if you do it in your birthday suit.

So it has to be a Mil-Spec forged receiver? Assuming odd dimension milled receivers are a crapshoot?

One option depending on your situation is patrol ready.

Mag in, bolt forward on a empty chamber.

When needed recover the firearm and rack the charging handle to chamber a round.

Depending on the child's age, this could be option

My son is 14. He’s been taught and drilled on guns and gun safety since he was 6.

Guns aren’t some magical thing that’s off limits to him. The rule is he can look touch and handle any firearm in the house at any time as long as he asks and I’m present.

But if he’s home alone we lock our bedroom door. That’s the only location of an unsecured firearm.

Ha! I’ve only met your son once, but he seems like a quiet, sneaky smart kid. No way you guys could keep him out of that room if he wants in. But he’s also probably smart enough to only do so when events call for it. Damn little brats are sneaky smart. Which can be a good thing. 😆

I could leave everything out and my 10 year old wouldn’t mess with it. He’s been shooting over 6 years. He’s got better gun safety that half the adults I know.

It’s a matter of having it secure when nobody is home. Locked up but not in the safe but locked and ready to grab and go. RFID with mechanical backup would be jamming.

Probably more of a unicorn fart wish.

12 daughter and 10 son. The boy knows how to break down, clean, load and run the piss out of everything I own. He loves to run the AR but prefers the recoil impulse of the suppressed SBR AK. 🤠

I like the idea of the hidden gun shelf thing but I’m not convinced that’s me.

Sometimes I will get a bump in the night carbine out but mostly the daily carry G19 goes on the nightstand. Opening and closing the safe twice a day to get the bump in the night gun out gets old.
