AR15 IN 45 ACP

OK, I would like to point out something about an AR-15 in .45 ACP.

Until this very moment, I had never given it a thought. I've seen ARs in .22, and ARs in .300 Blackout. But never have I given a thought to an AR in .45 ACP.

And now I hate your guts.

I had saved up $2,400 towards the full price of the .475 Wildey Magnum I've always wanted, only to have to dump that money on other things in the recent catastrophe that's been my life over the last two months (and I'd do it again, as there are other things worth far more to me than buying another gun).

But YOU, sir, have thrown this roadblock up in my face, a serious impediment towards recouping my Wildey fund. An AR in .45 ACP may not be the Thompson submachine gun I've coveted all my life and will never spend a fat five figures on, but THIS? Holy cow, what fun THIS would be!

(And no...I'm not getting a semi-auto version of a Thompson.)

So, now hate you. I'm striking you off all my lists I've never had you on. My Christmas list. My birthday list. All my holiday lists.

I'm going to add your name to my computer's dictionary and setting it to autocorrect to "The Disowned One" in the unlikely event that I ever use your name for anything.

I would do this before trying to build one.

Olympic Arms is about the only one I can think of to manufacture one in .45acp for a long time … and their reputation wasn’t that great. Marlin offered it’s Camp Carbine in .45acp and later a few others in a carbine in .45acp. A couple things that made the .45acp run better in a carbine were the operating system and magazine design. The best things seemed to be the delayed blowback system and Glock mags … both Kris’s and CMMG uses and they work. Personally I’d love either but you say AR and the CMMG fills that with the AR pistol Banshee and carbine Resolute. They are delayed blowback not gas guns that run Glock mags and work!

RetiredUSNChef,

My apologies to you. I meant no harm.

It was just a question for the sake of know age

Have to start saving up Funds.

Wen and if I buy one I have two cans of 1944 Spam that would make great targets.

Never cared much for the rat rifle myself, however in Gods calibur it may be just the ticket for uninvited A-Holes. 😉

That's OK, The Disowned One.

Water under the bridge.

I assembled one after getting a “free” Silencerco Octane 45K as part of a BOGO deal. Started with a QC10 Glock mag lower and a complete upper from JSE Surplus. The barrel was 10.5” (IIRC) and I had ECCO Machine cut it down and rethread it to ~5.5” so that the can would tuck all the way inside. Runs well.

I’ll get a current pic here in a bit and post it.

Hey,

What do y'all think about AR15's in 45ACP?

I like the 45ACP round. I know it is costly.

Or is it better to think about a AR15 in 9mm?

Please share some knowledge with this old gray Brother.

Thanks
Just buy the High Point Carbine. Cheap and Reliable. I have 4 and not one has failed yet

This guy listed one for sale last year and parts for one.

So for starters these days 45 ACP does not feel as expensive as it used to be and a 45 ACP carbine is totally feasible. I always experienced it as very soft shooting with low recoil and the of watching the little cannon balls fly. I had a Beretta CX4 which I would recommend if it was not for the price and lack of hi cap mags.

I have been oogling this one a few times, I know, some people don't like the brand.

I have a CMMG delayed blowback on a RMWX G45 lower with an 8" barrel (have a 4.5" extra also).
It is as close to a M3A1 as I'll probably ever get.
It uses M3 mags and runs great, no issues.

Here is a pic of mine.
Yes, I have paperwork for it.
