Does anyone have any experience with these? Or know any local shops in NC or gun shows they show up at?

Really just wanting to see one in person/look through some of them.

I know Doug at CLNY sells them on here but he’s not exactly what I’d call local, and I’m not necessarily interested in buying right now anyways.

Just info/opinion hunting and no threads showed up in search.

I have the sh4 gen II 4-16 and I am very happy with it. Kinda wishing I would have bought an ep5 or the sh4j in 6-24 when the rebate was still running.

I think they are a very good value. They are pretty darn heavy though.

Did you buy local or from them directly? I know they say they got rid of the 25 percent off thing but then they keep posting new 25% off codes on their socials

I have two of them. I bought them from our vendor at cameraland. Great service. No reason to purchase anywhere else 😁

I bought the EP5 5-25x56 from Arken with the gear upgrade. The optic is pretty good for the price. I put it on my wifes Bergara HMR 14 & the scope dwarfed the rifle. I ended up putting it on a 24" barreled Long action chassis gun. It looks better there. I would never use it as a hunting optic, its just too big. I do like it though. It's in no way a Nightforce killer as claimed on some Youtube videos.

I bought one EP-5 from fleabay. Liked it so much, I bought another from the same vendor. Cameraland hadn’t started carrying them yet.

I have an SH4 6-24 on my Tikka and an EP5 5-25 on my Impact.
They're both phenomenal for the money. Dialing the turrets and tracking back to zero are spot on. Can run the turrets all the way out and bet what you dial is what you get. Also subtensions correctly with the reticle.
No, it's not a Nightforce or a Razor. You'll notice that in glass clarity/image sharpness and aberration around the edges immediately if you had them side by side. The eyebox is also a little unforgiving at high power.
BUT if you've never had a high dollar big name scope, you won't even know what you're missing.

I'm very happy with my Arken scopes. I have a EP5 5-25X56 and a 4-16x50 SH4 gen 2. There is a newer model the SH4J in that line. The EP5 is still the best they offer.
I bought one of mine from Amazon, I don't know of a shop that has one. I believe that due to profit margin and what they can get from their distributors. 20230929_163431.jpg

I have the elp4 6-24 and I think it’s a great deal for the price, thought I wouldn’t like the illuminated reticle but it’s a nice thing to have on it.

I hear a lot of people say they are great for the money. What makes them so and what are their pitfalls?

Turrets are very reliable zero stop works the only issue your hear bout is the eye box you have to get use to it you can’t move your head very much once to settle on the target
Why is it not a nightforce killer? A 600$ optic vs a 3600$ atacr, there has to be more than just the eye box

Next to each other the glass quality of Arken vs high dollar optics such as NF and others does leave a bit to be desired. However, if you've never looked through top tier glass, or have seen them side by side you won't even know what you're missing.
As mentioned above, the eye box sensitivity is an issue of Arkens. Along with aberration along the outer edges of the scope. The light transmission in higher magnification suffers a bit, as the image will seem a little more dull, less bright and vibrant in color compared to top shelf glass. All of this is exaggerated at higher mag.
BUT. For functionality, like turret tracking... if you dial 13.4 MILs or 60moa, you're getting exactly that. And it returns back to zero every time. In a precision rifle scope, I can appreciate that more than anything else.
