I understand that the chevrons on MBTs and IFVs indicate company or platoon affiliation (not clear on exactly how that works though the orientation of the chevron is involved). Recently, though, I saw a photo of some "shelter" vehicles with an H (HHC/HHT presumably) and what looked like an inverted "T".

I did a cursory due diligence search, but couldn't find a clear chart or other guide to the nomenclature used. Anyone know where one might find this or an explanation?

Can you post the picture ?

Well, specifically this: https://www.facebook.com/1.7.CAV/photos/pcb.3486430688251046/3486426924918089/?type=3&theater

But I've seen ^ and < and > and v and dots etc.

I think I have a bit more clarification than when I submitted my question as the OP: I think those symbols denote the battalion or squadron; letters, Alpha, Bravo etc. denote the company/troop level; and, maybe, dots or dashes the platoon level (red/white/blue)?

So in this picture, I think that inverted "T" indicates the squadron and the "H" that the vehicle is part of the HHT (headquarters and headquarters troop).
