That was always waiverable, maybe not so much in recent years, but waiverable nonetheless, having the G E D or equivalent, but not having one, yikes

Yeah, it's cyclical. Those guys will be chipping paint and sanding non-skid. I don't have a huge issue with this. The ones who join and are motivated will get their GED and end up doing quite well, the first term enlistments will learn something along the way and be better for society.

I think this is a reflection of the woke policies being rammed down our throats.

There are a lot of reasons people not joining, the woke thing one of them. Stupid non-waiverable crap. Minor drug offense. Too fat. Too dumb. Some of these things will help (per above, I don't necessarily dislike this move)...pre-boot camp fat camp (the army has had success with this), review what is/is not waiverable, etc. But until we get a new administration the woke thing is not going away.
