These idiots have stepped up their game.
Letters didn’t work
Telephone calls didn’t work

Now I get a threat that if I don’t sign up by January 27, 2022 they will put my vehicle on the status of,
”High-Risk potential of “Pre-Existing“ conditions with mechanical or electrical issues on vehicle.”
if I neglect to update my protection program I will have to pay 100% out of pocket repair costs.

Oh shit — if I don’t sign up - due to pre-existing conditions - I will have to pay 100% of mechanical or electrical repair costs.

I’m just here to whine. My drivetrain warranty expired at 2024 or 60k miles on my 2017 wrangler. When did I discover a small passenger side oil leak from some damn where I can’t see? 61k miles. 🤬

I hope it’s not the phenolic heat exchanger Chrysler buried deep in the V which means pulling everything from cylinder intake up to the top to change.

We're a fleet customer with several hundred Chryslers, but our chosen repair dealer, not the dealer we purchased from mind you, works with us way above and beyond on things just outside warranty. Sometimes free, sometimes just labor or parts. Sometimes it may just be the service writer but a lot allegedly gets corporate blessing. Its enough to make me not immediately rule out Chrysler products.

I am not a fan of Chrysler but years ago got a Dodge Grand Caravan for my wife.
She liked it when the insurance company provided one because our Audi was being repaired after a truck hit it.
It was more like love because I had a hard time getting her to get a new one, even when it had over 230,000 miles.
I finally talked her into a Chrysler Town&Country (same color, options, etc.) but had to keep the Grand Caravan.
We finally sold the GC about 6 months later.

The T&C now has about 140,000 miles on it and will most likely be used as a hurst when I die!!

I had a powertrain warranty on my '94 wrangler, stretched the chains in the transfer case out to where they were hitting the sides of the case making a ton of racket. Took it in, the service writer said they couldn't hear anything on the test drive. I asked to talk to the manager (pre-Karen so it was OK back then) and when he came out I put the transfer case in neutral, put the transmission in 1st and WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK tons of noise. The service manager literally said to the writer guy "the customer must have taken it off-road, but it's covered".

Jeep? Off road? Crazy!

When I bought my charger they threw in a 100k drive train dealer warranty to get me to agree to the sale. I was concerned about b the 5.9L lifter issue.

Since I have purchased the car I have received (very professional) looking paperwork saying that my drive train coverage is due. I have 2,500 miles, 5,000 miles to finalize MI warranty or the world will end. My wife takes this shit seriously as hell. I have contacted the dealer and they say that Chrysler cars seem to bee the most normal subject of this scam.

Good luck!

Take a flashlight and look down beside the oil filter housing. Oil will puddle up in there and then run out the back down the transmission bell housing when the valley fills up.

I get these calls weekly. For fun, I'll hit the button to talk to a rep. They always ask for the year make and model, so I'll start with the 1974 CJ 5. Uh, you got anything newer they ask? Sure, 1977 GMC Jimmy. Uh, anything newer? Sure, 1982 F350. Uh, anything newer than 2005 they respond? Sure, 2006 Sterling A9500. This excites them and they ask the mileage. I respond 997,605. Click.......

Sometimes I mix it up and include the 1968 F1000 or 1963 GM two ton truck.

You'd think that they would put me on a do not call list just so I'd stop jerking their representative around....

We just got a letter telling us, in no uncertain terms, that the warranty on our daughter’s 2015 Kia is about to expire. 🥳

I assumed that was the source area since that whole oil filter/heat dissipation housing is plastic. Looks like a bear to get to :(. Still get lay eyes on it so I’m thinking it’s cracked under the intake and leaking out the v.

Remember when service managers had those tall metal desk in the open bay area and he sat on a stool if at all? Years ago, when I went to have recall work done and they escorted me to a nice air conditioned area with sales cubes, I knew it was trouble. First they tried to deny the vehicle was part of the recall. So, I handed the letter the company sent me. They they tried to oversell me about $900 of additional work. I refused it and said, please just to the required recall work.
Service is where the money is now.

Somebody’s gotta cover the cost of the vegan croissants and Evian. 😉

Got tons of those Sterling's where I work. with a 60 series they regularly see 2 million miles with 40-60K oil changes. She's only half worn out.

Not very difficult, it’s usually just the seal between the oil cooler and the block that leaks and not the actual cooler itself, but I replace them anyway.

Pointless thread update:

I think we’re talking about different years. My heat exchanger is absolutely buried under the intake with only the oil filter housing tip exposed. Can’t get to it without pulling the intake or paying Quite a bit of labor for someone else to do it. I need a word in private with the engineer that made this happen 😂

All 3.6’s are like that. Was just saying if you look past the housing you can see enough of the valley to spot a leak. Not a terribly time consuming job, but yeah, an annoying spot.

It’s the only thing they have going! They can’t get cars to sell, if service quits, they go belly up! Be a shame to see that 10 million dollar showroom with a flea market outside!

About that. Now that the automotive industry is starting to research and push out more and more electric cars, you gotta wonder if the big dealerships are thinking they're looking down the barrel of a gun. I couldn't imagine there'd be as much repair problems with an electric car. I mean, all they have is a motor and brakes...

I’ve been getting the warranty expiration threats in the mail for the WRX I bought on Dec 19th.

Yeah, and this administration keeps pushing eclectic cars on people knowing that we don’t have a pow grid to support them. California did the same thing, pushed E cars on people and then told them not to charge them as they were having brown outs! We still wouldn’t produce the motors and they would still require chips made somewhere else, batteries made elsewhere (and ex to replace) . They’ve got their grubby fingers in the money end of this is no doubt. Still think the maintenance and warranty will be cheaper?

Aww, heck no.
Yeah, they're not gonna get a gas tax, so they want us to report our travel and get taxed on miles(or get our devices to report on us).
The batteries won't last, so we'll be stuck with no used car market.

Its gonna suck. About the power, though. Talked to a few electrical engineers at various hydroelectric dams while waiting on collections to finish, asked them about that. They all said our grid could handle it. But I'm sure, even with a smart grid, it'll be more strained in denser areas.

You're not going to report your mileage, your car is going to do it for you. All new cars are sending all the data back home. I have a 22 Toyota tacoma, it has a built in 5G cell phone. I have an app on my phone to control the truck from any place I have a cell signal. It tracks and sends back all the black box data, on my app, it tells me about hard breaking, fast acceleration, harsh cornering. I can look up the past 5 trips I have made.

Yeah, our grid can handle most of it now but the leftovers what to do away with coal, gas and nukes! What are they planning to use?

You are correct,, they will even send you reminders to service your vehicle thru the radio based not just on time but on mileage data they have acquired from your vehicle. Just wait till they start selling your driving habit info to your insurance company so they can adjust your rate accordingly. Not saying they will, but they can.

Saw an interesting pic of a pay as you go elec vehicle charging station the other day. Connected to the charging station was what looked like a diesel powered generator... That would work wouldn't it ?

I think this thread has officially been robbed from the Op's intention..😏
It happens to me all the time with mine,, personally, I don't care..Opens up a dialog for new but related stuff.
