My AK experience is limited. I've owned a nice AK Draco pistol. Never really got to fully enjoy it as the sights were off. Dropped it off with a local shop to have their gunsmith/tinkerer to have it sighted in. Both the shop owner and tinkerer are friends who I've been to the range with several times. I get a call back, he recommends just putting a red dot on it saying that you can't really adjust the rear sight. I ended up trading if for a Kalashnikov USA 16" 9mm carbine. It has a great trigger. too good. I shot a match with it and it was regularly bump firing on me, we think. Myself and the RO's thought it may be that I wasn't getting off the trigger fast enough. I dropped this one off with the same gunsmith/tinkerer. He recommended sending it in to Kalashnikov USA for warranty work. So, I really like the 9mm Carbine and plan to send it in, but am beyond frustrated with my AK experience. On the plus side, I do have a good bit of 7.62 x 39 steel case and even some brass (used to own a Mini 30) and a half dozen or so AK mags, and am eyeballing PSA AK rifles at the moment:)

Wondering if anyone had experience with Kalashnikov USA customer service? Did I mention I bought a @$60 red dot sight and had it sighted in on the KUSA carbine right before the match that I now need to pull off and put on another rifle and rezero?

Happy 2020....

What Charliesgrave said....

Heck, even if you wanted a perfectly centered front sight, you can install an rpk adjustable rear sight leaf... those had adjustable windage.

It doesnt sound like your gunsmith is really an AK kinda of smith.

All good info here. Did you trade into a new KP-9 or a used one? Because you'll want to double-check that KUSA's warranty is transferrable before you send it in. If the only concern is a light trigger, I'd call them first to explain what you think is going on. If the trigger is aftermarket I can't imagine they'll warranty repair anything at all.

Greg no offense at all especially considering you're one of the fellow CFF OGs, but it doesn't sound like you've done enough homework on the AK. "AK karma" to me is spending $2,000 on an Inter Ordnance model because the buyer was an idiot for not researching IO first, and then the gun blew up in their face. Having a (possibly) canted FSB on a milspec, "built for beating up" Romanian AK and a light trigger (which is adjustable if it indeed is an ALG trigger) on a commercial, "built for performance" KP-9 isn't bad karma; both are quite common with quite easy solutions. If those two issues are beyond frustrating, I'd suggest learning a bit more about how these guns work or looking at a different platform altogether. And ditto the guys above me - ditch that smith for sure.

Also, swapping red dots between firearms and re-zeroing is fairly universal - not just an AK thing. If that's your extent of 2020 woes I'd say you've had a pretty good year.

@digitalpaladin10
I would check with this fella

No doubt, I've been blessed, and perhaps "bad karma" was a bad title, but I realized I don't know much and the "guy" I counted on to know more, didn't help much. Thanks for the recommendation of @digitalpaladin10. I was thinking of just swapping the trigger (or getting someone to do it) might be better than sending it in, just haven't priced them yet. Guess I need to see about taking a look at the trigger and go from there.

Paladin is helpful for sure. Trigger swaps are pretty quick and easy, and I and my fellow AK fans here are more than happy to help walk you through it.

Update: Was in my local shop recently and ran into my friend/gunsmith that looked at it and he explained that something wasn't right/out of spec and it looked like a factory trigger. I shot KUSA an email, we'll see what happens.
