It’s a stainless frame. It came checkered from the factory. We both know a couple of deceased gunsmiths that could checker like that but they didn’t pass the talent down to us. To answer your question about Caspian, the no longer make aluminum frames

wow. quite the work of art there! It looks like someone tried to duplicate a flintlock pistol (or at least the grip angle) in a 1911. I'd be curious to see the magazine.
