Battle of the ATM machine

The key is to allways be aware of what's around even if your in the "safety" of your home.
I'm reading this from the toilet with an lcp in my sweatpants pocket just below my knee

like i said before, don't get caught slipping. the only time i don't have a gun handy is the few minutes i'm physically IN the shower. and i'm exploring options to remedy that

Leave your vehicle in drive ,so you could use it in your defense as well.
If they get the jump on you seated ,your seated draw is unlikely to be fast enough.

I avoid sketchy ATM locations.

If it were a choice between the two, the only one I would have would be my colt 1991A1 with 230 gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP. I carried that for three decades until a couple years or so ago when I shifted to a Walther CCP M2+ in 9mm, which is loaded with 115 gr. Speer Gold Dot JHP, which is essentially a .357 caliber, even if it's not a magnum.

(I noticed some apparent nerve issues on my week side. Moving my wallet out of my left rear pocket to a front pocket helped a lot, with the symptoms essentially disappearing. Shifting to a lighter pistol also helped. I haven't had an issue since.)

As for the ATMs...I rarely use walk up ATMs. I pull my car up, very close to the ATM to make it impossible for someone to wedge in between me and the ATM. And I'm aware of my surroundings when I do. If it's suspicious, I leave. If someone pops out, I'm already prepared.

I only use the ones at my bank locations. It's built into the wall so nobody can come up on you from behind the atm. There's a good length of building on both sides. There's no way for someone to walk up on you from a direction you can't see. If they do come from around either end of the building you should have plenty of time to roll up your window as you putter away.
