Been Carrying a J Frame

I've only got a not-quite-Jframe SW Bodyguard 38, with the plastic bits but it carries well and fills the same role fine. Makes me want something more traditional too though, I've never quite gotten a shrouded hammer model and always wanted one.
I have one of those too, the the trigger in it is better than any Performance Center J frame I've handled.

I've not handled any performance centre stuff, but it is definitely pleasantly even and consistent trigger and doesn't have any overly heavy parts of the pull for sure.

I absolutely love the ambi top corner cylinder release too, I just wish it took standard jframe grips. I'd like a little more thickness than the factory grip.

Might be something to do with the geometry of the trigger mechanism and the geometry of my hand, but every J frame I’ve handled has a stiff over-center release in DA that causes the gun to twitch when it breaks. I have a couple that are pretty smooth but they still have that over-center snap. I know they aren’t target pistols, but the triggers are annoying. With my SP101s it’s just a smooth ramp up and it breaks, no twitch 😍
I find that both the S&Ws and the Rugers can suffer from the same problem. I have been tuning both models for The Gun Store, in Lexington for many years. When done correctly, they will have much lighter pull weight, and are completely linear in travel. I have always felt a tune like this was necessary to achieve accuracy in a hammerless model especially.

I love this place. I can go to a Glock thread and get told my 7 round 1911 45 acp doesn’t have enough capacity. Then I can bop over to this thread and be told 5 rounds of 38 sp is plenty. Something for everybody here. 😂
My usual carry is an LCP for sheer convenience, so 5rds of a significantly more lethal round seems like plenty to me.

Not sure anyone is saying five rounds is "plenty", but going by the law of averages, "enough" might be more like it! LOL (Besides, I carry .357's in my J-frame! :) )

I’ll just steal something from Darryl Bolke.

There are “go to trouble guns” and “get out of trouble guns.”

Service guns are for going to trouble. “Bump in the night” investigation, having to navigate through a very rough area, carrying a gun for uniformed work, etc. Shootability and capacity are big concerns.

Snubs are for getting out of trouble. If you’re rolling on the ground with someone and need a concealable gun that will be very difficult to jam up, that’s a snub. Can’t go out of battery, has the ultimate “fix” for ammo malfunctions (pull the trigger again), and not a lot of barrel for someone else to grab. Need to create a little space for anti-robbery escape? Snubs have been doing it for decades.

People tend to carry guns like they’re expecting Russian paratroopers to fall out of the sky. What they will probably need is a gun that fits in, and can be gripped in, a pocket in the event a confrontation seems unavoidable or inescapable.

Any recommendations on a discreet pocket holster for J-frames?

I'm currently using a DeSantis Nemesis, but it feels so bulky compared to a micro .380 in the pocket.
I have the desantis and its been great.

It took a week or two to break in though. Afterwards it feels better and more follows the contour of my leg.

Also, I pocket carried a ruger LCP and S&W bodyguard previously and, yes, initially I thought the revolver was bulkier. But I got used to it and now I hardly notice it there. And, although the cylinder does make it stick out quite a bit, the shape of it in the pocket looks less like a gun than a micro 380.

I’ve tried Desantis and Sticky brands but I think this is the one for an Airweight. Now all I need to do is order a second for my NY reload.

You'll find no better customer service than that of Bob Mika.

I agree. He called about ten minutes after I placed my order online to thank me for my order and ask if I had any questions about the holster. Very friendly guy. Best customer service experience I’ve ever encountered, and he was right on with his time estimate til delivery. He‘ll get more business from me for sure.
