Best quick-access safe for a full-size 1911? Kid is about to be 2 and I can't leave it loaded in the drawer anymore.

  • Right now on my radar is the Vaultek?
  • My wife doesn't trust the RFID on the Hornady pop up safe.
  • We sold our Barska because it was not quick action and way too large.
Any input is welcome!

Yeah, mine is too young for that.... for now. Check out their biometric one I mentioned, it might be more reassuring for your wife.

Appreciate the followup. At that price point I think I'd just shell out the extra 100 for a Vaultek or gunbox and lock the RFIDs in the rifle case. Especially with the reviews Hornady's biometric security on Cabelas.

THE FORUM MIGHT BE HAVING ISSUES WITH ADDING PICTURES (CAN'T UPLOAD MORE THAN ONE) OR I WOULD SHOW YOU ALL WHAT IS INSIDE, BUT MY SAFE ARRIVED FROM VAULTEK TODAY AND I AM MORE THAN HAPPY. THIS THING IS BUILT LIKE A TANK. PLAYING WITH IT NOW, I CAN ACCESS QUICKER VIA COMBO (WHICH MANY OF YOU ALREADY TOLD ME) BUT I AM STILL HAPPY I HAVE IT AS AN OPTION FOR ONLY $30 OVER THEIR NON-BIOMETRIC VERSION. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT VAULTEK BIOMETRICS DO NOT HAVE THE ISSUES MANY OTHER SAFES HAVE, AS THEY USE A SOLID STATE DEVICE (SIMILAR TO YOUR PHONE) WHERE AS OTHER COMPANIES USE A "DRAG AND SCAN" METHOD RESULTING IN INACCURACIES. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUTS!
