Specifically looking for a goretex jacket in Woodland BDU. All I have left are Desert three color goretex items and I’d like a jacket for a trip out west over the summer

Found a few new ones online but didn’t know if there was a good source online (or local to a member)

Thanks

Not surplus but, actually better in many respects, are the MidWayUSA 50-75% off deals on fabrics which perform like goretex … https://www.midwayusa.com/jackets-coats-and-parkas/br?Best Use=Hunting&Discounts and Deals=Clearance&Discounts and Deals=Sale&Product Features=Waterproof&Savings=50 - 75%&cid=23724

Ooops, forgot MidWayUSA also has a current clearance on surplus gore Tex firefighter jackets, as well (not sure if the night-reflective is a deal breaker for your trip purposes, or not): https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1025857969?pid=705529

Venture Surplus is great. Fair prices, too. Is this what you're looking for?

That’s an awesome deal. That’s the exact jacket I am looking for, except I need Med Reg. Found one on eBay for $79, and might go for it. Looks like it was owned by an Air Force guy, so it’s bound to be lightly used.

Found on on eBay but shipping was a tad high. Counter offered with a lower price ($68) to offset and it was accepted.

This’ll come in handy when I go to Washington state soon

The water repellency does wear off, so get a can of Gear Aid of something to spruce it up.

Call Pete at War Dogs

Let him know I pointed you to him.

I would love to get an Army DI hat because my granddaughters played with mine and it disappeared

I remember the first time I got to wear it at Folk Puke…
When I went to the PX, I realized that most of the trainees crossed the road to not be near me.
To be truthful I almost did the same thing the first time until I realize that I was wearing ”The Hat”

This was during VietNam and we had to be hard assed so some of them could get the tools to survive.

I’m cheap and $50 to $100 is wayyyyyy to much for this poor guy…

I wish they had that German firefighter jacket in 2XL. I could use one for work.

I was asking for me- it is the right size for me, but I don't know much about it. I need some wet weather gear.

If you get wet often, it does need to be treated with some sort of spray-on water repellent because it'll eventually soak through. I don't know if it's a quality of Gore-Tex or the fabric or the sewing or what, but they don't stay waterproof very long if you use it hard. That said, if you do that and take care of it, it'll last a good while, and it's a great wind-resistant coat.

You can also find Arcteryx, REI, and The North Face gore-tex on ebay for pretty good deals, too.

The DCU one I’ve had has been in my possession for 17-18 years or so.

I’ve worn it skiing, in hard rains etc. I haven’t treated it with anything but it’s held up. It’s a durable fabric and survived two deployments in iraq, firing ranges, and then all the stuff I’ve done in it at home since

I think you have a unicorn. Every one I had (still have one), starts to seep through behind the hood and top of shoulders. Bad run maybe? I dunno.

I will say it only does this when it's really raining, like last week raining, not just drizzling, and it's a great lightweight medium temp windproof jacket.
