Best songs to listen to when you’re sad and want to stay that way.

Brother...I know I am spamming this thread...

Back in around 1998. Im a high school student spending time at the career center for AP classes. Have a small group of friends. One guy kinda wanting in, but he was a bit, unsual. Decent guy, just didnt click. One day he tells me he is working at a coffee shop around Thruway in Winston, tells me to come by for a coffee sometime.

Im in town one day and think "I should swing by and see X... nah...Ill just go to Borders and then home."

Short time later they find him dead in the parking lot at school. Suicide. Lyrics from this song in his note. For almost 30 years this song has haunted me....what if I had gone for that coffee...what if I had sat with him and became more of a friend...

Just two lost souls livin in a fish bowl....

Back in the early 2000's, before I met my wife, I had me this gal who I was madly in love with. She was beautiful, half philipino, model...just, stunning. But...didnt work out. At times she'd call on me, wanting to see me. And ol'dwight came through with the words I wanted to say.

Got memories of sitting at a bar in downtown winston with one of my older brothers...smokin camels and drinking miller light...this song came on and I just sat there and realized the therapeutic nature of music.

I know you know it's not really on you. We each chose our own path. But, the reality is that we only have each other, because we're all in the same fish bowl together.

Ironically, there's debate that the song is about Syd Barrett, an original member of the band who had psychological issues and had to leave.

Ran across this song last year. To my surprise, I heard it on the radio today.

I heard this again today and thought of this thread. I scanned the 195 posts to see if I or anyone else posted it and didn't see it.

It's especially sad because of Cornell's death. I saw him in Chicago and NYC not long before he died....I'm a big fan.
