I don't see where we have an "ammo" forum, so I thought I'd throw this here! I'm curious what is the best or worst shipping error (firearms related or not) that you've experienced.

Just today, I finally opened up my first case of 9mm ammo that I bought in late 2023. I had ordered 5,000 rounds at around 24 cents a round shipped. Great deal. I was sent 10 boxes, double wrapped, and assumed it was 500 rounds in each shipping box. I didn't even look at them when I received them, I just stored them away.

Upon inspection of the first box, each actually contains 1,000 rounds of 9mm. So they actually sent me an extra 5,000 rounds for free. No one reached out or contacted me, but you'd think they'd realize they are missing almost $1,200 worth of ammo.

In that spirit, please share the best "extra" stuff you received or where you got shorted! Your example does not need to be firearms related; could be anything!

I was waiting on three pythons to be delivered to an FFL in boone that had recently changed ownership. The FedEx guy noticed that somehow the packages were addressed to the previous owners PO Box and knew he couldn’t fit them in there so he took it upon himself to lookup the address associated with the box and delivered them to an unoccupied residence. Just left them on the porch. I got the notification that they were delivered so I went to the gun shop. The new owner was about to head out for lunch and seemed very uninterested that my firearms were left on someone’s porch. We had a colorful interaction and he decided to go and find them before he had his meal. Needless to say I do not do business with the shop in Denver that shipped them nor do I do business with the shop in boone. I thought for sure some porch pirate was going to be running around the high country with the nicest revolvers they had ever seen.

I ordered an engagement ring from a maker in Australia, knew with the long lead time it made more sense to have it shipped to the US where I was going to propose. Jeweler did their part. FedEx just screwed the pooch.

First issue was they shipped it to my billing address (in the UK) not the delivery address. Then while trying to fix this, they lost it for a week. My day to return to the UK rolled around weeks later and still no ring, so I got my flight home, went home to make sure they hadn't delivered it there again then called my boss to tell him I was going right back to the US, see you in another two weeks. Booked another flight and went back.

Two weeks later, still no ring. I was fuming. Time to go back to the UK again, we are walking out the door to head for the airport at the last minute and the FedEx clown walks up and literally tosses the box onto the porch at my feet, turns and vanishes without a word. On a signature required package with delivery instructions (place under the extra large package hiding door mat).

I proposed in the breezeway of a Mini City apartment complex.

My ex never forgave FedEx and for years would refuse to purchase anything that was only shipped by them and would not under any circumstances allow any FedEx vehicle to merge into her lane. Sometimes to the point of courting a wreck.

I ordered an Arc'teryx jacket, to be delivered USPS priority mail. First told "undeliverable" (despite the correct address) it bounced around post offices of Greensboro and Raleigh. What was supposed to be a 3-day event took almost a month. I contacted USPS several times to be told "we don't know why this is happening" and "there's really nothing we can do."

ordered some gloves from Mechanix which were on "special" since they were being discontinued.
order did not arrive. shipping details showed it never shipped. called them and they sent another.
received both at the same time. called them, and they said keep both because they could not
log it back into their system. i only paid for the original order.

Once I bought a very rare, JDM (TOM'S) chassis brace. Was a decent deal, hard to find, I was stoked. Came in with the end of the package open and brace was missing.
Gone.
No finding it, just gone.
I was quite bummed

I ordered a set of headlights for the truck on 4/11.

Anything mailed to my street address, the post office automatically returns as undeliverable. Has to have my PO Box included in the address.
Latest was the registration and title for the Tacoma I got back in March.
On the phone all day yesterday with DMV in Raleigh

@‘86 UPS left a heavy 2’ cube box on the front porch of our townhome. The box had ATF pistol warning decals on it. Back then I was a stoner and did not want any of that attention, so I called an undercover cop neighbor to help. He carried them off and I never saw them again. I now know that was a mistake. A week later a long box was dropped off, correct address and same name I’d never heard. It had two stainless Winchester 1300 Marine shotguns.
I was told they were left at my address, they were legally mine 🙃

During my first year out of school, I was assigned to help teach a client school which was mid-day Monday to mid-day Friday in Minneapolis. I flew from Memphis to Minneapolis on Sunday evening in jeans, a polo, and tennis shoes.
The BAD: Norwest Airlines lost my luggage, which spent the next week touring Canada (Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and back) before arriving back in Minneapolis on Friday as I was waiting to fly back to Memphis.
The GOOD: Norwest reimbursed me to buy underwear, socks, two dress shirts, two suits, and a pair of dress shoes so I could dress appropriately for work. That was nirvana for a poor guy not long out of school.

Been several years ago had fedex as a customer order some parts for a machine of theirs that was down and they wanted it nda urgently and shipped by fedex on their account since they obviously get freight covered. My contact calls next day looking for the tracking info or parts since he had not seen it yet, so i give him tracking info and look into it as well and noticed it said delayed and he paused for a second to look and replys “well least we don’t discriminate we lose our own crap as well, send me another cause who knows if that will ever be seen again when its marked delayed” and we both got a good laugh out of it.

I have lived this nightmare. Even charged restocking fees because the items were returned.

Had fed ex leave a package at my mailbox, which is on a busy road, in the rain since they couldn't be bothered to drive 500 feet to the house. Another time they left several boxes at the beggining of the driveway, about 100 feet from the house. I almost hit them leavinf for work the next morning.

FedEx
2 Dell Servers delivered up the street, saw the "FedEx " truck go by the house, checked and the packages was delivered, problem being, wrong house, never got them, called Dell, they said they show delivered, I said sure, wrong house, ( broken accent) "you are welcome to go to their house and get your delivery " said nope ship me 2 more, got 2 more next day. Told the person you "are welcome to go to their house and get my packages

Next up.
USPS..
50BMG brass, 4 lrg postal boxes, yep postal boxes "empty, ' plastic tote with empty boxes, loose brass and a note " damaged", plus a trail of brass from driveway to porch. Didnt even bother to pick it up, seller packed it in bags, xtra cardboard, rolls of reinforced strapping tape and still busted them up. Seller made good on it and filed claim with post office.

UPS
Ordered Raspberry Pi boards from Delaware bypassed MD, everywhere up and down the coast, never managed to stop in MD. Company made good on it. First package arrived 2 months later they must of found it, crushed with a big ole shoe print on it.

Not exactly an error, but not exactly right either, this was captured on my front porch camera:

Only one time that I recall. Something small 50ish dollar item I sold on here. I dropped off the package at the UPS store by my house like I always did. The guy messaged me a week later asking about update. It was lost and UPS blamed USPS USPS blamed UPS I just sent the guy his money back and learned a cheap lesson.

I shipped a 1911 magazine via USPS. I just wrapped it up and put some stamps on it. No box. It disappeared almost immediately. I've used FRBoxes since with no issue.

Last year had some Amazon packages say they were delivered at the front door. Looked all over and couldn't find them. Found them the next day while doing yardwork. They were about 15 feet from my mailbox laying in the yard.

I ordered a truck console safe for my son for his birthday from Amazon. It kept getting delayed and I had the option to cancel and order a replacement which I did. New came the next day and the first order showed up the following day. Amazon said to just keep it.

Sent a P365 to sig to install flat trigger. 5 day turnaround. Got delivery updates almost hourly from FedEx(?). Then the 'delivered' update. Walk to front door and nope, no gun - which required a signature. Immediately got on the phone with FedEx - manager said, it's marked 'delivered' so it's delivered....I causally mentioned that the driver left a firearm at some random address or stole it. Manager put me in a three way call with the driver (first I've heard of this) who stated 'I left the package at the house with the dog in the window. I don't have a dog and by the way, the Ring camera didn't capture any activity at the front door. Driver causally states, 'must have left it at the wrong address....I'll go get it', and hangs up. 15 minutes later FedEx at my door with the firearm.

With that kind of ability to hold a grudge, it's amazing the relationship didn't last.

To be fair, I am bloody awful. And usually she was live and let live, but she had ideas about proposals and weddings and such.

Ended up being about 9 years I guess.

In all honesty, I reckon I've been lucky, cause I haven't had too much too complain about, unless.....FEDEX....

Ordered a SET (4) of tires for my truck and this is what showed up. All of the paperwork showed 4 tires were sent from the seller but FEDEX....

After several forms of correspondence with several people, my other tire showed up 2 weeks later...

My brother in law (BIL) shipped us something from BestBuy a few years ago and we found the thing plus an Apple Watch. We checked with brother in law to make sure he didn’t buy it and wanted to do the right thing so I called Best Buy to return it. I figured they would say thank you, send a label, I stick it in a box and that would be that.

They actually had the audacity to say that if I didn’t DRIVE TO A STORE and return it that they would charge BIL’s credit card for it.

After a ton of back and forth I finally found a manager with a working neuron and they sent us a label, but holy hell it must have taken a couple hours. I’m still in awe at how ridiculous it was.

I’ve never had a bad shipping issue personally. Unless you count the crap my coworkers have done to me and my customers. How you confuse 2 different customer names and a Fayetteville, NC address with an El Paso TX address I’ll never know. And nothing says expensive error like mis-shipping a few thousand pounds. 😩
