Let me see if I can play it out for you. His gang kidnap a bank employee, I think. Lock him in the trunk of a car. A couple of days later, his gang are on the way to rob the bank and hears the guy banging on the trunk lid. Says he cant breathe. So Cagney pulls his revolver out and tells him "Oh, cant breathe, here's a few holes for you" and fills the trunk full of lead. A damn good movie. One of his best.
