Mighty coincidental that I used my debit card to buy something from Versacarry in Texas and now there are some fraudulent charges on the card from some places in Texas. Versacarry was the last purchase I made on the card…..I’m not saying it was someone there, but it’s kinda suspicious. Won’t be shopping there again.

I’ve bought from them before, and there was no issue. The circumstances seem very odd, though. Bought something from
a business in Texas…..and three charges pop up on my card in the last few days from places in Texas. Luckily, it’s not a “lot” of money.

My wife went to the bank today to speak with someone and it was my card that was compromised and not hers. Mine is being disabled and I have to get another card. I’m also being signed up for alerts if any unfamiliar charges come through on my card.

I assume since they used the card at places I might patronize, it would go unnoticed. They were wrong.

One of the two gas stations up here will never see my business again. Most of the on the pump card readers don't work well and I'm beginning to think it's because they have scanners in them. The first year I lived here my debit card number was stolen twice. Both times the last use was at this gas station. Management doesn't know anything about anything.
That's when I went to cash for everything. Yes it's a PITA to go inside and leave a deposit to fill up but it's a lot less of a hassle than having to screw around with the bank disputing charges and waiting a week for a new card.

The right answer is to go Credit Card for everything, not just online. Nothing you do with a card anywhere is secure, so don't expose your own money. Use a CC and pay it off to 0$ every month. If you can't do that, this advice isn't for you. Keep carrying cash.

ETA: I'm running into more and more situations around town where cash isn't even an option.

Some cards let you generate a virtual card number for anything you like with a dollar limit and expiration date,
BOA stopped doing this, I used it a lot.

This doesn’t surprise me too much. I don’t known how I got on their email list but versacarry slammed me with so much spam that I automatically assumed they were a scam business.

Contests and they are a bit aggressive with the emails.
