Transferring 4473‘s to the WV ATF office when a FFL closes has gone on so long the ATF had to bring in basically CONEX containers to store them because the building they started out using as storga could not handle the shear volume. Now when the gun Nazis start building a searchable data base we will talk!

And if you've ever filled out a Form I or Form IV, the online system is SO poorly designed with non-standardized data able to be entered in most fields , that it's likely never going to be useful for effective searches.

Google will use their AI to produce a list and all of us will be on it. They will call us domestic terrorists.

Surreal

P.S. Should what you say come to pass, they may call us domestic terrorists, but we'll likely identify closely as ... 'rebel scum'.

I know the exact building that the ATF uses in Martinsburg. It’s the old courthouse and it is small! I have 2 cousins that work there. I was born in Martinsburg .

Do they have an old school fire sprinkler system? Just curious.
You should see the security. This is the more than storage … its the ATF’s National Trace Center where local, state and Feds call to start a trace on a firearm. I also think they handle the records for all the FFL compliance inspections. Its (the building, CONEX’s, water, HVAC, etc facilities, parking lot etc) completely enclosed by a 12’ with barbed wire and mess “privacy screening” to keep onlookers from “spying”, manned (armed) electric gates, two structures which for all practical purp are guard towers, mics. sensors and cameras, etc. It is not really marked except at the main gate and even then you’d not really don’t know what it is.

Side not … the IRS has a very large computer facility there also for processing returns and it is even less conspicuous. Also the pretty large Martinsburg VA facility east just east of it couple hundred yards. The Feds love this small town just west of the MD/VA border … close to DC.

Even funnier thing you can almost see the build from I-81 when you make the run up north trying to stay out of DC and MD because you have your EDC or such in your vehicle.

"The ATF has so many records stored in its West Virginia site that several years ago the floor collapsed according to the New York Times."

Gee...it would be a shame if a fire broke out and completely destroyed all those records.

You know...like the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis which destroyed nearly 20 million military service records from people discharged from 1912 to 1964.
