12 months ago I weighed 451.3 lbs. I'm 6'5" and have always been big. I played division 3 lacrosse theoughtout college and football recreationally. One thing or another, i put on close to 200lbs after college. Last June i started getting healthy...I've tried everything in my life to lose weight...even tried an RX for wegovy for 1 month....i hated it and didnt lose weight. I decided last June to try keto and intermittent fasting after watching Dr. Berg and Dr. Jason Fong on YouTube and reading their books...the Obesity Code is a great read by the way...lots of terrible govt oversight is making people seriously sick...a topic for another day. I share all of this to say that I'm eating great food...high fat and high protein with low carb and no sugar or sugar substitutes (except erythratol and xylitol). I eat one meal a day and no snacks. I started at 2 meals a day and moved to 1 over time.
Today i feel great, my chronic gout is gone, ive reduced my prescriptions, feel a surge of strength and have lost any anxiety that came with being 450lbs. I'm down 125 lbs and just finished my first 5k. It wasnt a land speed record, but i never stopped jogging the whole time. Looking forward to my next 5k next week. I'm also down from 5x or 6x shirts to 3x and 4x, my pant size went from a snug 52/54 to a comfortable 42.
I don't share this to get an attaboy or a gold star from anyone...i did this for me.
I only share this with those who might be feeling like nothing has worked or feeling like giving up on their health...whether or not it's weight or anything else...small steps bring HUGE results. I've got another 100-125 lbs to go and I'm on track for later this fall to hit my goal.
