Billy Strings, what can’t he do?

I used to drive three hours one way to take my oldest son to Charlotte for Tool concerts before he had a driver’s license, so he wouldn’t try to hitchhike there. Had to be 15 years ago. I’d sit in the parking lot at the old Charlotte Coliseum waiting on the show to end. It would sound like the place was going to explode.

I used to go to concerts there myself in the early 70’s.

So anyway, my youngest son is an enormous Billy Strings fan, and doesn’t miss a show if it’s within reasonable driving distance. Strings did three shows over three nights here last year, back to back, and my youngest was there at all three shows.

So it’s kind of cool seeing Strings sit in with Tool.

I've heard the name, but I genuinely have no idea who he is.

Neither did I until one of my kids sent me a vid a year or two ago.

His original claim to fame is blistering bluegrass flat picking on flat-top dreadnaught acoustic guitars. He’s also a singer songwriter who tours constantly.

He does an awesome job on one of my favorite Dylan songs.

Sounds like a dang fine cover of Doc and Merle’s version. One of my favorite songs of all time. It’s one of the songs I would play every time I picked up a guitar.

I need to buy another guitar.
