Biscuits anyone?

My wife told me today that she really doesn’t like biscuits. Should I file for divorce after 29.5 years? 😳

HELLS NO, MAN!

Ya gotta be practical here.

Johnny Taylor once sang "Cheaper to Keep Her", but if you want to be even MORE practical...

I say all this means is "more biscuits for you"!

Gravy is almost done!

There’s a recipe and method up top man 😁. Want me to come make them for you? You’re not over working them. I pat my dough out, cut what I can, ball the rest up and fold it and pat it a few times. Mine turn out great every time. Use a cutter, cut them an inch or so thick. And I know damn well you have a cast iron skillet. Height of the pan makes a difference also. Add a good shake or three of salt also. Hate for you to get accused of making honey buns instead of biscuits

@Burt Gummer buys his biscuits

Never tried it on honey bun. Going to use it coon trapping this year. Hope they like it.

I'm not much for record keeping so I don't know, but if you bought some of my syrup and you don't like it I'll give you your money back.

I may need a PM with recipes, if you are inclined to share and don’t want to post them in the open forum! Please?
Oh it’s no secret, happy to share. I don’t really use a written recipe for these things because the amounts and tastes vary per season.
Just take whatever fruit or berry you like and depending on what it is remove the seeds/skin. For example with blueberries, I don’t bother, I just throw them in the ninja and grind them up. For apples I remove the skin/core (save the apple scraps and make jelly!) slice them up and cook them in a big pot with a tiny bit of water until they are soft and run them through the food mill. Peaches can be skinned and run through a mill or food processor/ninja. But for something like blackberries I would run it through the ninja then a sieve to remove the seeds.
Once the hard part is done it’s really just made to taste. I always use a couple tablespoons of lemon juice and add sugar to taste. Again depending on the fruit, add spice or leave it out. For the apple butter I use cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and allspice to taste and I use a variety of different apples. Peach, I put a little cinnamon in. People add cinnamon to the blueberry butter also but I prefer it without. Throw it in a crock pot with the lid off and just let it cook down stirring every few hours until it’s the thickness you like. Usually takes about 12-14 hours for about 8qts and you end up with 3-4 pints. Boil bath can for 15 minutes to preserve pints. 8oz jars for 10 minutes.

You eat all those by yourself?
How many pans do you make of them at one time? 😉
I ate one. All my new stomach will hold. I make the same size batch every time, that’s just how many biscuits it makes.

New stomach? You get the surgery?

Working good for ya?
So far. Everything now is baby sized meals. No caffeine, alcohol, or carbonated stuff anymore. Still miss coffee. The rest I don’t seem to crave

Holy heck. What was your top weight and what are you now.

I peaked at 325. I’m at 258 now.

Hope to make it to 250, college football/track weight.

But it’s a slow road, I like biscuits too much. 😉

By a weird coincidence, @RetiredUSNChief and I just finished making some more.

That's a big funny looking biscuit!! 😂
I first thought cornbread but knew it couldn't be that because it's not cooked in cast iron.
yeah its cornbread and I opted for the glassware over the cast iron.

so I've always struggled making biscuits, trying all the recipes and about 2 years ago I tried this mix Southern Biscuit mix which has shortening flakes mixed in. It can be found a walmart, food lion, or the Pig. I keep powdered buttermilk which you just add to water to make buttermilk. Mix the two gently and make a dough, roll, cut, bake, and glaze with some butter. They look and taste exactly like the biscuits at Hardees or Bojangles. It took a couple tries to get the mixing right but after that it's been gravy lol. Give this a shot.

If I wasn't fat when I got here, I'd be fat because of biscuits. Southern food is just the absolute best.
