Bladesmith Outdoor Leadership Training (BOLT) is a non-profit serving the Chapel Hill - Pittsboro, Chatham County region of North Carolina.

During the week of June 21-25, and again during the week of July 12-16, BOLT offers a week-long afternoon summer camp, developing youth leadership, citizenship, and character through firearms safety and competitive air pistol shooting.

Our camp is geared for young, first-time shooters (11 and older). Campers learn gun safety and competitive shooting skills using advanced Sig Sauer P320-M17 Air Pistols. Instruction focuses, first and foremost, on gun safety and respect for the responsibilities inherent in gun ownership and use.

PS: Bladesmith Outdoors also provides basic gun safety education and training tailored for individuals and families. Our programs develop leadership, citizenship, and character through firearms safety and proficiency, and other outdoor skills.

Glad to chat about it here. If anyone would like to learn more or offer input.

We're finding good success introducing people to firearms using this new generation of air guns. They are not toys, but they are less scary to many parents and new shooters. They allow us to train a wide variety of knowledge and skills relevant to safe gun handling and proficiency. Doing it with air guns also lowers the barrier to entry, saves people money, and allows them to make the best use of expensive training ammo once they are better prepared for live fire training.

I'd value any input, feedback, collective knowledge, or experience CFF members might offer.

Hey! Are you the same person who put on the pistol training summer camp (pellet pistols) for Woods charter school two years ago? If so, my daughter attended, and I posted it about it on this forum. I’ll link to that thread if you are the same guy.

I checked your website, you’re the same guy. Here is the thread...
I thought it was great.

Hello Russ! Yes - I originally started the summer camp initiative as part of Woods Charter School's menu of summer camps. For various reasons (none of which would surprise the members of this forum) the program is no longer affiliated with Woods Charter School.

The events and issues we faced during that time ultimately inspired us to establish the non-profit foundation, so we could continue offering the camps without interference from those who want to ban any education of young people about gun safety, shooting skills, character, citizenship, or the rights and responsibilities inherent in gun ownership and use.

Thanks so much for sharing this thread. I remember your daughter very well. She was a very disciplined, hard working, and proficient gun handler. Some of those afternoons were hot and uncomfortable, but she set a great example among the other students. I'm glad to hear she continues to train. I'd love to have her back this summer if she wanted to brush up and further develop the skills.

@Bladesmith , you need to be a forum Vendor or Sponsor to advertise here. We are fiercely loyal to our sponsors, having someone advertise who is not on board is simply unfair to those paying to keep the lights on.

Thanks for this note. And for providing the correct link. It was simple and I was able to immediately fix my oversight. I am now a vendor (Receipt number: 1G0012927L595642H).
Apologies for my ignorance. I should have done that prior to this thread.

We all fall short of excellence. We will be judged by how we accept responsibility, learn from our mistakes, correct our actions, and carry ourselves into the future. Thank you for educating our youth and guiding them to be responsible citizens.
