Yep,, had plenty of them and always as a surprise. A young egg layer will sometimes produce a double yolk then they quit that at bout 2 years of age in my experience.

We get those for like $1 per dozen from a local egg farm. Too big for typical packaging, so they’re worthless commercially & much appreciated by folks around here.

A young egg layer will sometimes produce a double yolk...

One of our younger birds laid probably 30 doubles before she started laying normal eggs.

She laid more doubles than all the 11 other birds laid, combined.

Yup just like @Crazy Carl said, we had a commercial layer farm for years and they were considered culls. $0.02 a dozen was what they paid us for them 10 years ago. We would average about 15-20 a day. Double yokers are all I ate during those years.

Of the maybe 1000+ quail eggs we've gotten, we've had maybe four.

My wife says she had one in her breakfast this morning.
