I am running a Broadcastify live feed of Charlotte Area Repeaters. If you install any scanner app that supports Broadcastify feeds, search for Charlotte Area Repeaters (the name of my feed). I use Scanner Radio Pro on my Android phone and tablet.

You can listen live via browser at: http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23363

Audio is whatever my radio is tuned to at the time and may change frequently. The feed comes off the VFO-A side of a Kenwood TS-790/A with 15 element directional antenna. There is no feed audio during transmit.

This feed includes, but not limited to:

W4CQ 444.450 Mhz
W4CQ 147.060 Mhz
N4GAS 147.120 Mhz
K4KAY 444.350 Mhz
W4BFB 146.940 Mhz (ARES)
W4BFB 145.290 Mhz
W4BFB 145.230 Mhz (Drivetime Net & SkyWarn)
WB4PZA 146.820 Wilksboro
Piedmont Simplex Net 147.505 Mhz (nightly chat)

If I am at my desk I will change frequencies when traffic dies. Most of the time during the day it's on the 145.230 Mhz repeater. At this moment, it is on 145.190 at Mt. Mitchell.

Premium members have access to the archives, which is 180 days of recordings.

bspitt are you still listening and/or using your Baofeng UV5. Going to get your license?
Unfortuntaly I cant always listen at work. And my Baofeng wont pick up anything in my office. I have been listing on my baofeng to and from work everyday. I will be getting my license in the future - just dont know when yet.

Guys - I am totally new to this but trying to learn. No license yet as I want to listen in and learn a bit before I put in the effort.

I have a Baofeng UV-5RA with a slightly better antenna than stock. I am able to hear the NOAA weather feed. I am able to get a signal back from the repeater in Monroe NC. That is it. Never hear a conversation. Even tried listening on Broadcastify and still nothing. I tried setting several of the frequencies above and still nothing.

What am I missing in terms of getting started here?

Thanks............

If you can pick up NOAA your radio is likely functioning and your just not listening to the right place or time. Most repeaters see traffic during the commute times and around lunch. Some repeaters get squat for traffic.

Seriously, put for a little effort, it is easy and will take about an hour a day for a week or two, and if you have basic ekectrical knowledge it's easy. Once you get your license, it would be much easier to help you.
