I traded a 5.56 LaRue/RRA SPR last winter for a Brownells retro AR-10, listed by Brownells as the "lightweight model", or a close copy of the Portuguese model.
Yesterday she got her first range trip and I can do nothing but speak praise of the retro AR-10s.
I'm sure the hand cycling/charging will smooth up over time, but any new rifle has to wear in.
All I can say is that I recommend Brownells retro AR-10s, at least the Portuguese model.

They're very cool, and an absolute hoot to shoot!

All those Brownells retro guns are cool.

I got an A1 upper that I built into a gun and its pretty sweet.

Made the second range trip today with the rifle.
Haven't touched the elevation or windage yet, and its printing near point of aim at the hundred yard line

What is the ejection pattern from the rifle?

    Love the top charger.
Don't really know why, just do. :)

Bout five or five thirty three feet from the firing point. To me it doesn't seem over gassed

Thanks - I was wondering how left hand friendly it is and with a 5:30 ejection pattern I'll be getting struck on the cheek or on my neck by fired cases. A 5.56 case is bad enough but a 7.62 case would hurt both from the impact and the hot brass. I had cases leave burn marks on my neck from M16A1s. I guess I'll pass. Shame, it seems pretty cool.

My range partner for both trips is a lefty, he didn't get kissed by any spent cases during his time behind the trigger

That's good to know! Now to pull together the cash to get one...
