Good - Bad ? i"m thinking on a X- Bolt long range Max 300 WM. your thoughts greatly appreciated.
Regards, Jerry

I’ve got a Speed SR on the way- I’ll let you know! Lol. Seriously- it should be in next week... so there’s my vote. :)

Actually - by almost all accounts and personal experience with a 30-06 version of the first gen x bolts- they’re wonderful rifles- well balanced and extremely accurate, as well as reliable and ( imo great looking)

The downsides being the trigger - which many don’t care for - it’s crisp but heavy… they market it well. But that’s an easy fix with either a spring kit or the drop in Timney; the fact that there’s some great shooting alternatives out there for most folks - and IMO ( this is just my opinion) they’re a bit too light for precision shooting… and if you’re a hunter like me who just enjoys range time - the PRO version price differential at about $130.00 per oz weight difference and a carbon barrel is overpriced.

For ME I could’ve gotten a Savage that shot as well, with a better trigger- for about 300 less
… but I love the Browning action, and find the Savage stock pretty ugly. .. just me.

Edit- I just saw you’re thinking of one in 300 WM. If it’s a long range hunting rifle. - for elk or other Weatern game … I’d def give it a “ shot”. :) . Well balanced and light enough to carry long hunts - but has enoug heft to absorb some recoil. I wouldn’t hesitate a second to take that as a primary in a once in a lifetime elk hunt.

Never could get Browning rifles to shoot a decent group. I have had a few, including x-bolts and stalkers. After market parts are rather limited too. But I say get what you want and be happy. ;)
