I've yet to find a 'gun brush' that can out perform an old toothbrush. Throwing a toothbrush away in my house is a sin.
I would spend $5 on a brush if it actually did a $5 job. I've never seen it, and I like brushes.
What do you-all use? Fuller brush guy still come to your house?

Outside the fact they work really well. I'm a cheap SOB and use old toothbrushes.

I'm walking through the dollar store and there's a 5 pack of cheap toothbrushes for $1, and then I'm at the gun shop and see the 2-pack of 'special' gun brushes for $6.95. The gun brushes do have that tactical thing going for them though.
I'm hard on a brush. Covered in hoppes and carbon grunge is not unusual. After the chore that thing is trash bound.

Keep a small jar of isopropyl alcohol nearby. After you are finished using the brush, put it in the jar and stir it around a bit…does a pretty decent job of cleaning them.

Using this idea! Just threw away my travel tooth brush. Now kicking myself. Going to replace my regular toothbrush soon and will use the old one for firearm cleaning!

I've got "gun" brushes. But I am also a old toothbrush guy. I use them for everything. You can also take that old toothbrush and hit the sides on a sander and get it down thin with just 1 or 2 sets of bristles left in the middle which helps get in tighter spots. I also throw them in a jar of alcohol so I can get more use out of them.

I wish I knew/new/gnu where I got this, but I’ve only had it a few years. It’s like a toothbrush on one end, and really skinny toothbrush on the other.

Those have been included in USGI M16 cleaning kits since at least when I was a young private in the late '70s. You can still find them in those, and I've seen boxes of them at the gun shows from the sellers who seem to have lots of cleaning items. They're very handy and I always have a couple around.

Since switching over to the dentist recommended Phillips Sonicare, I don't get old tooth brushes anymore. At least not the type that would do any good cleaning a gun when the brush head needs replaced. So I've been going with the Tipton style that others have shown here. I've found that the thin ended bristles work great getting into pistol slide channels.

But old tooth brushes work fine, and have for years.

I've never had any problems cleaning mine with very hot water. Obviously make sure they are good and dry before using them again. But I'll try the alcohol. Seems smart.

Wish I had taken pics now. But I did a mass handgun cleaning last night. Cleaned about a dozen using clp, a toothbrush, qtips.

Qtips are great for hard to reach places and tight spaces. You can even bend 'em into shape if you need to.

There are some variants of the military cleaning brush where there are stiffer bristles or copper/bronze bristles.

I've picked up these things before at HF and the cheap tool table at the auto parts store. I'll throw the brass and steel ones in the shop and keep the nylon one for my guns.

The little brush that sticks out the end is not as useful as it first may seem. It's ok, but it kinda gets in the way sometimes.

I've actually thought about using an electric toothbrush on my guns. Why not? You can get an electric toothbrush with a dozen heads on amazon for under 20 bucks.
An electric toothbrush would be a scrubbin' sunny beach.
