C-17 jump

Nah! It actually shorter than a C141-b.

I had one C-17 jump. There was a static line extension and you had to get through the door and step on a little triangle thingy and clear that. Wasn't too hard as it pretty much pulled you out when you got through the door. The opening shock hurt my jimmies more than normal on that one. Also remember watching the following sticks jump heading to chute turn in and it looked like the big ol bird shouldn't still be in the air as it flew over.

LOL at the black dude at 0:08...did someone give him black and white BDUs as a joke?!

And at 3:20...what the heck happened there?! Tell those two guys to hit the brakes when they're mere feet from the door all psyched up?!

Got one or two jumps out of a C17 before I retired. Jumped out of C-47, C-130, 141, CH-47, UH-1, UH-60, Puma (French wings), D-8 DeHavilands (Kenyan wings) , Casa 212, C-160 Transall (German wings), C-222 (Italian wings) also earned Jordian, Columbian and Egyptian wings. 24 straight years on jump status and 20 yrs as a jumpmaster. Broke my leg once and got hip fractures on Ste. Mere Eglise France during the 59th Ann. D Day jump.

I had a Green Beanie tell me once that his scariest jump was from a B-52, at night, over the Pacific, onto some island they were training on. Said they jumped with oxygen bottles and then dropped them when they got down to a breathable altitude. Not sure if he was shttng me or not.

C141...only thing worse than being a safety on it was being one of the last dozen or so jumpers...remember vividly having to stand up on the seats and not being able to reach the cable to hook up until the chalk was exiting...hooking up as we moved towards the door, focused on getting that safety wire inserted...but our proficiency level was much higher way back then (80s) than it is today...we jumped all the freakin time. One pass, one pass only, everyone out. I have a TON of night, combat equipment mass tacs from 141s...but only one that mattered, 20 Dec 89.

My "funnest" jump...a CH-54 Tarhe...had a milvan rigged up so we could do static line blasts from 3k. Anyone remember reenlistment C130 tailgates? They don't let 82d do C130 tailgates anymore...

The first time I stepped into a C17...holy shit, where have you been all my life...they finally made a coupe de ville for the airborne...easiest plane to jump master, to safety, to ride in, to jump from...also the easiest to shoot down (in training)...low and slow.

Give me a C130 sardine can any night flying nap of the earth...that is the only way in

When I was a corpsman attached to a recon unit they kept trying to get me orders to jump school. I always found a way to avoid it, getting orders to other schools, etc. Combat diving? Good to go. Helo casting? Meh, didn't love it. Anything above 30 feet AGL? No thanks.

Haha. Standing on the seats waiting for your turn to get into the stick was the norm on a 130. Red light? Racetrack? Wrong answer, keep pushing.

Lol...hell yeah...chalk pusher wasnt just a name, it was real job back then...Go, go ,go..

Always wanted to jump a OV-10 Bronco. Only time one came to Campbell for us to jump, I was already jumpmastering a C-130 that day.

you forgot while someone was blowing chunks and it was mid august w/ the AC system set on 95

Loved jumping the C47/DC-3. Didn't mind C-130s if over the ramp, but night time mass tacs blew chunks. Then again, I was PSYOP & we jumped more Casa 212s & UH60s than anything.

Only times I jumped C17s were Hollywood, but when it came time to rig up rucks n weapons, we got mashed into a C130.
