Lol stop using logic and a belief that the state can’t just take what they want. Not sure I’m understanding the numbers. The story mentions a budget of $24 million with the goal of collecting 20,000 firearms. Well, $24,000,000/20,000 is $1,200 per. Why not just offer $1,000 cash per gun turned in. They’d only need a clerk and some greenbacks. I’d turn mine in in a heartbeat!
Great point.I am not so sure about mental health issue bit. What does mental health issue mean? We know that liberalism is a mental disorder, so does that mean that any liberal can have firearms seized without a day in court?
Fixed. That is what happens when they run out of other people's money.
HMMMM, it appears I may have in fact been overly optimistic. They stripped 11,000 (11,000) firearms from the residents of the state
It's what I've been trying to say all along. It's not just a law against criminals. It's a law against law abiding citizens. What people are failing to realize any attack on a citizens rights, is a attack on the Constitution itself. I'll take my punishment on the chin, but when everyone starts to realise that they are being made criminals for exercising their rights... Maybe they'll be ready to fight. I'll stand with those who, (even though they weren't willing to with me) are willing to stand for a citizens right when the time comes. Our way of life, freedoms that we've enjoyed are under attack... Daily. When is the People gonna wake up. We The People are under attack.Staffing problems for that job? Go figure. Who wants to be the first bullet sponge through the door?
Edit to add: as the definition of “criminal” becomes more and more liberal and expansive, I can no longer in good conscience say “I’m all for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals”.
Agree 100%, but not enough info to know who CA is actually targeting. 20,000 is a pretty small number, so it can’t be everyone that spit on the sidewalk. It’s CA so could be everyone that’s ever had a restraining order issued that also has a gun registered. As @Combat Diver pointed out, this is a symptom, the problem is registration, that is a line that can’t be crossed.Edit to add: as the definition of “criminal” becomes more and more liberal and expansive, I can no longer in good conscience say “I’m all for keeping guns out of the hands of criminals”
I heard a blurb on the radio this morning that 1 in 4 Americans has a criminal record. It also went on to say that events from when they were young, continue to haunt them and result in being denied jobs and other opportunities decades later. It's what I've been trying to say all along. I am very fortunate that I learned a very valuable skilled trade from my dad growing up. Criminal behavior was a result of my addiction... So once sober, it wasn't very hard to get back on top. I was brought up with a very strong work ethic. Some aren't provided that luxury, thus creating a repeat of criminal activity. At the end of the day, it all boils down to choices. I made some bad ones, learned from them, and moved on. I'm very thankful to have a clear head in todays environment. When called... I'll be ready. I strive to be wise as a serpant, but harmless as dove. Untill...I heard a blurb on the radio this morning that 1 in 4 Americans has a criminal record.
