Just getting into silencers and started thinking about the wraps to hold down the heat (I guess). Stopped by a local shop today and asked if they had any. The showed me Kevlar wrap and it cost around $140.

Somebody please educate me on benefits, materials and cost.

What type of shooting do you anticipate?

High speed Mag dumps with an AR?
Long range precision bolt gun?
Plinking with a .22?
Field, bench?

Just playing around with the 9mm, 300 bo and 223 but not full auto. The 22 LR in 1911-22. Maybe in the future, one on a 6.5 bolt action rifle. 3 of these cans are budget cans and the other 2 or going to be on the better side.

I have one on my MP5SD. Shooting full auto the can definitely gets warm.

The bad thing is that they retain the heat. The good thing is that if the can is hot you can remove it to use on a different platform or for cooling.

get a couple of decent oven mitts and a good all-cotton pouch to store hot suppressors.
many synthetic materials will melt, so avoid those.
https://www.silencershop.com/silencer-shop-suppressor-removal-tool.html I can vouch for these...
the thing about suppressor covers is that they pretty much hold heat in, and make your can take longer to cool.
if you're doing long range precision rifle, you might need a cover to keep the heat from distorting your sight picture... if you're mostly plinking, don't bother.

I was thinking of getting one of those army surplus bulldog machine gun barrel bags.
