Howdy all, I can't seem to find any information on the pros/cons of different cantilever design types...

Not having thorough understanding of the fundamentals, was hoping someone could explain adv/disadv of the two below!

I am proud new owner of a Leupold VX-R Patrol 20mm, 1-4x (acquired for $120 wood woot). Figured the scope specs will likely be important variable for any experts to answer my question. Yes will be mounted on AR...

One gives you greater eye relief than the other. The correct choice is up to you for your setup and preference. They might both work... or neither.

I shoot NTCH & with my rugged cro-magnon features, I need a mount that puts the scope way out there.

Depends on how much forward offset you need for the eye relief of your optic

Like @Crazy Carl I shoot with more forward cant. Here are two of my precision ARs:

AR-15 go 2.5" + cantilever forward.
AR-10/SR-25 who cares. The upper rail is so damn long

The key is to place the LPVO as far forward in the mount for both rifle/pistol systems as one can without damaging the optic. Then sent LOP to its correct setting for you and then place the optic on its highest magnification setting and adjust forward by each pic-slot until you have proper eye relief.
