I was at colonial williamsburg and bought my son a cap gun. Side story in 3. 2. 1.... We went to the magazine (arms room) and the guy said he wasnt going to touch the 2nd Amendment with a ten foot pole then went on to say that "we dont need to protect ourselves anymore, professionals do that for us." I told my children that was horse shit and forget evrything he said. Back to why im posting.... Id like to get my children a caplock style gun. Nothing overly expensive but still very useable. Any suggestions? They shoot 22s and such already. Maybe a small american long rifle?

I'll call my dad and ask him to look at ours. I was shooting a small scale BP percussion at 5-6 yo. It was a .32 I believe. That was 35 years ago, so any clues as to origin may be a bit outdated....

Dixie would be the place to go. Plenty of choices. Also they stand behind everything they sell. I have been dealing with them for years

I need to watch my own threads. I haven't found anything yet. 32, 36 cal would be sweet. I have about 80lbs of lead i can cast.

Ive hunted the whole world wide web and found nothing. Well not nothing but nothing for me. Id love a CVA gray squirrel. There are none for sale.

Weeeeeellllll, now....sounds like I need to make another visit to Colonial Williamsburg and check this guy out, just for the potential entertainment!

Are you talking about the Magazine and Guardhouse shown on this map, near Queen Street between Francis and Duke of Gloucester streets?

Suggest a .45 cal sidelock if you can find one. Cut stock down to fit and adjust charges as needed. You don't need full charges. I've got a cheap CVA .50 cal Bobcat thats a sidehammer but with syntheic stock. Only paid $50 new at WalMart in 03', I would just load a patched .490 Round Ball with 30 grs for a youngster.

If the guy is working there in COLONIAL Williamsburg, he doesn't need to be spouting that junk off. I would've considered going over his head

Ditto. Employees at historic sites, especially when it comes to this nation's founding, should not be getting political. Just recite your script and move along.

Great news! BP was always a blast (pun intended) to shoot! Just dirty to clean. Pics of her and the new hobby!

I want to point out that I got it from a member here and he was easy to deal with and all around a good experience. Thanks combat diver.

"Professionals do that for us." "Yeah, they called them RedCoats back then."

Ok boys. Here she is. Never mind. I can post pics. She shot the 50 cal muzzle loader I bought off combat diver. We loaded up some prb behind 55gr of Pyrodex RS.
