I remember one guy who would show up with his same two guns, a hi point 45 pistol and a Mosin. That's all he could afford and we all knew that. He was a nice young guy and all of us bent over backwards to let him try guns he couldn't afford. He passed away at 31 from a brain tumor, but we all have good memories of watching him light up and enjoy trying all the guns he could only dream about owning.
When folks like this show up at the range with guns like these, I know why. It's all they can do right now, and they're also a little apprehensive and yes maybe defensive, since most everyone else has $3000 worth of guns with them. Take em under your wing and let them shoot the AR10 and the 1911. The defensive postures disappear and it's all 'thank you' and 'I really appreciate that!'
If you're one of those that needs a return on his investment, then no worries. Someday you'll get paid back..with interest.
