I am posting this assuming, I am in another universe. I just read what pelosi and some other dems have proposed for this LEO reform bill..... wait for it, wait for it, I APPROVE of the readers digest version I read. Now, I am not to naive to think they haven't stuck a Trojan horse in there somewhere. Here are some of the highlight I got out of it:
Ban the use of choke holds by all law enforcement
BAN ALL NO KNOCK WARRANTS FOR DRUG SEARCHES
Require federal uniform officers to wear body cams and require them for their cars
Start a registry of misconduct complaints and discipline actions to keep cops from bouncing from department to department
Limit the transfer of military weapons and vehicles
Make it easier for people to sue when civil rights are violated
 
I’m cautiously skeptical but all in all seems like a good start.

A couple points...
  • choke holds are already against policy in most departments.
  • Federal LE hasn’t been the issue in any of the protests that I can recall, so this has me wondering if it’s a precursor for federal police to occupy cities that disband/defund their police force
  • I’d like to know their definition of military vehicles and weapons. Actually from the military or military-like? Easy way to ban patrol rifles.

I would be a big fan of banning all no-knock warrants, as well as liable for entering the wrong address, or looking for someone already in custody, or liable if nothing is found inside. If it is bad enough for a no-knock warrant you had better be dang sured that you going to find what you looking for.

Yeah, like I told my wife the other day, if they weren't so good at making me bitter and resentful, I would be on their side with this one. but instead, they made it about race, not being American citizens treated like Taliban in Afghanistan.

Go ahead and admit it, you have a poster of Pelosi in a Bikini from her trip to the beach last month, :D
 
The police will always seem racist . They target criminals. A small percentage of the population commit a majority of the crime. If you look at the numbers with blinders on....so you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
 
The police unions have to be livid, they are attempting to take away their ability to cover up some of this crap going on. Now the dems making unions mad makes me giggly inside.

I was fixing to eat a late lunch, you just saved me $10 got no appetite now, and may not be able to eat supper. :( Where is the puking emoji?
 
First, ALL no-knock warrants should be illegal and any warrant should be fully vetted before being enacted...

Second, I don't think putting racial language in the bill is anything but counterproductive...

Lastly, all the mention of "federal police" bothers me to the extreme. We don't need federal police. It's a state/local job... There are too many federal LE agencies as it is. Plus, I don't know how much the federal government can force local police policy legally. It mentions mandatory cams for fed bois, but most cops, currently, are local...
