Anybody else get one of these? It was addressed to me or current resident. I guess they are sending them out to CHP holders?

The real message?

"Let people touch your guns during the holidays"

Nope; I live in a county with a pro-2A sheriff that doesn't get preachy at Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you too sheriff.

So they sent a postcard, and now everyone knows you got guns. Brilliant plan ding-dongs.
This is the same county that also has sent these postcards out in the past:

No, it was a sealed postcard. I don't really like the fact that it was addressed to me or current resident. So I guess it's the same, either way cause everyone knows now.

Well, I guess that's a little better than just flat out advertising it to anyone that might come in contact with it.

Yeah, the CHP notice was an open postcard as pictured. Uggh.

I'm not sure if we received that postcard, but if we did...I'm fine with it. It's a good reminder to folks. Probably comes from a good place. I'm not looking for reasons to be offended.

I'm not offended by it. I just don't think it's a good idea to send stuff out that could identify my house as having guns. No need to advertise that to criminals.

Wasn't suggesting that you, personally, were offended. Was responding to the thread in general. But, for what it's worth, I don't share your concern.

At least you were notified.

Lafayette, Indiana, where I got my first few permits to carry in my earlier years, was insane. You only had ONE day a week in which you could drop off and pick up the paper work for your permit. And the time frame was something like between 2 and 3 in the afternoon on a Wednesday or something. No kidding.

That, and the other hoops you had to jump through, were the kind of pain in the keister things you had to deal with, even though Indiana was, and is, a shall-issue state.

Replace the term "gun" with "dog" and it means the same thing. You just can't fix stupid.

Just some perspective. Mr. Carmichael operates/or used to his own company that teaches concealed carry, marshal arts, etc. I think he has a message that could come from a different view. However he now holds a political office, and he should get scrutiny from whatever issues he presents.

I'm of two minds on this.

One side, of the people in my CC class, 90% were not "gun" people and those folks had never taken a safety class nor one on marksmanship so the friendly safety reminder might be warranted.

OTOH- coming from a family of postal employees (all of whom shoot and like guns, let the jokes commence) I can say that there are those in USPS employ who will steal your stuff or alert their associates to which abodes have the best stuff to steal. Just because they work for the USPS doesn't mean they're honest nor trustworthy. Lots of Affirmative Action going on along with political correctness in that bunch.

Got mine! Mrs. has been in the hospital and I just sorted out the mail from the last few days. It was with the same pile that my begging letter from the NRA was in sooo......

I had to LOL at the postal thing. There is a show on NBC called "Blacklist". The lead character has to rebuild his criminal empire because he was ruined by a former associate that he thought was dead. He is now using a postal employee to give him the addresses of people who stop their mail for vacations, etc. so that he can rent the house to people who need a "safe house". Kind of a crimnal underworld AirBnB!

At least once a week, you'll find one of these in my mailbox-
Guns magazine, American Handgunner, Guns & Ammo, Handguns, American Rifleman, Natchez catalog, Brownells catalog, Sportsman Guide catalog, Smokey Mtn. Knifeworks catalog, and there might be a Duke Energy bill in there somewhere.
Been like that for 12 years.
Guys...don't read too much into the little things. Get away from the conspiracy network and go outside and play. ;)
If you just can't stop, get a PO box.

Funny calling it aroma therapy. My daughter was shooting with me last week (an all too rare occurrence) and told me, "I like the smell".

I'm not offended by the content, I'm offended by the waste of $$. It is not .gov's role to remind me of safety practices. Use that $$ for meaningful services or give it back.

People are far too accepting of big brothers intrusion, in even the most innocuous ways, into our lives.

You're in Denver, correct? If you're in the Lincoln Co portion, I would hesitate to call this group pro-2a, as they seem a little too beholden to the interests of the carpet baggers over by the lake.

Yeah, we’re down in the Westport area.

I’ve never had any issues with Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with regards to being hardasses about carrying or anything.

Sure, they aren’t as effortless as Iredell County was when we lived there (permit took 12 days, over Thanksgiving for me and like 14days over Christmas for my wife) - but I’ve only been here a couple years.

What kinds of less than 2A friendly stuff do you know of?

Some transplants (who else?) complaining about folks shooting on their own property, trying to get a county wide shooting ban. Carpenter told them he was considered it but unable to enforce it, instead of telling them to pound sand back in Connecticut or whatever overtaxed s-hole they came from. It was in the paper.

Word of mouth is that he only signs off NFA stuff for friends, but that is heresayI can neither confirm nor deny.

He's a nice guy, hard on the druggies, but that left a bad taste in my mouth.

My wife and I both got one from Sheriff Carmichael. They were in envelopes like a Christmas card and addressed only to us, not current resident. I don’t have a problem with it.

"Signed" might've made a difference in the past, but there's no current requirement...and hasn't been for almost 18 months.

Ah, I hadn't seen or heard anything about that before. So far, the county boys seem to be alright.
