A friend gave me a 105mm howitzer shell case that he got from a yard sale. Needs sone brasso applied.

I had a 105mm tank main gun case at one time that got left behind in one of my many moves over the years.

Having shot at live 12G shells with a BB rifle until I hit the primer (MANY years ago) I can understand how this might happen.

Me too. And once, my buddy hit the primer, the shell went off and the hull flipped back and hit him right in the nose. Luckily, it just cut him a little on the side of his nostril. After that, we shot from a few steps farther back.
