Still havenā€™t mounted this new optic yet. As nice as this thermal scope is, it came with a crappy one piece QDM mount w/ rings.

The mounting nuts have nut shaped recessed holes and itā€™s impossible to get the mount tightened up snug on the picatinny rail.

So I ordered two nice Nightforce rings for it that should arrive tomorrow.

You going to use any hand warmer packets as targets for sighting in?

A cheaper option is use NRA B8 paper targets but place them flat on the ground for a few hours on the backer. The sun will heat them up and give a great contrast in white hot mode.

Don't forget to see if you have a POI shift between white/ black hot. You might...

Not to sound silly, but a fyi, you can sight-in day our night. For day operations, sun heated black ink works great, night ops, the hand warmer packets

Range setup, we use two 9-volts reverse connected is a great every 100yds if you have a open field you hunt in.

Each glowing 9volt marker allows you to know the distance quickly.

I used to take a spent case and poke it thru a hole in a paper target on carboard backer with the base target side.
Hit the brass case for 30 sec or so with a lighter and ya have a nice dot to aim at for long enough to shoot and adjust.
Bigger thicker bottle neck cases work best.
Hand warmers work ok, too. But the stuff that makes'em warm falls out when it gets a coupla-few holes innit. :cool:
 
Zippo make a metal hand warmer that uses lighter fluid. Much toastier than the packets of filings and lasts for many hours on a single fill. IIRC they have them in the camping section of Walmart too.

I remember using those skiing when I was a kid. I havenā€™t seen one of those in decades. Didnā€™t know they were still around.
 
Thatā€™s awesome. I love the bikes too. I was stumped between the mt 09 and 10 so I just said heck with it and got the 10. Of course I still shoot coyotes in 640 lol. Awesome scope man

started getting coyotes coming through my farm recently in larger numbers.
Need to figure out a set up as they mainly come through after dark

I got something similar for Christmas. I can charge them and they go from warm to almost too hot depending on what level theyā€™re set to. You can also charge other devices with the hand warmers. I donā€™t know how much they cost but theyā€™re pretty cool I thought. I used them still deer hunting between Christmas and new years and I could wear one less layer of clothes at 30ish degrees with the hand warmers in my pockets.
