Looks like someone posted disturbing photos on social media and headed to church with a handgun and ammo. Someone read it and called the cops. Church security team was on the ball, found the guy and detained him. He was arrested without a shot fired. Good work all around. And most interesting, the CNN article seems pretty thorough and didn't say anything stupid like "AR-15 handgun" like they have in the past.

This is part of the process of how to stop mass murderers before they carry out their mentally deranged plans. Here is an example of someone who knew the perpetrator, saw some social media posts and notified authorities (See something, Say something). Even though the posts may have sounded a bit cryptic, the person who reported it to law enforcement knew enough about the suspect to take the threats seriously. Thank God that law enforcement did as well, demonstrating apparently excellent inter-jurisdictional communication of the threat between Anne Arundel, Prince William and Fairfax Counties in Virginia. That's THREE separate counties. I'm seriously impressed.

Also: "... investigators were also able to give a description of his vehicle to officers in Prince William County. An off-duty officer working an assignment at the church spotted the vehicle in the parking lot." Nice work.

Church security was also on the ball and had him under close surveillance from the time he entered the building. They did not let their guard down and did not rely on "hope" as a plan.

"He was dressed in black and wearing sunglasses." A reminder for all of us: Look for signs. Admit to yourself what does not look normal in your surroundings. Yep. Even in church.

ā€œJiang faces a felony charge of making a threat by letter to intimidate a population and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a dangerous weapon to a place of worshipā€
Sheeeiteā€¦ I always carried a 4ā€ blade and a pistol, frequently while in the security team a folding 300BLK AR in a laptop bag.

as usual the story is jam-packed with assumption. at minimum the guy is a complete idiot and at most he was planning to do harm. However no facts presented in the story are particular clear nor were motives/plans explained. The sheriff looking to take credit for saving the entire county is not evidence of guilt. Regardless anyone with an IQ > 80 needs to see more information here.
