This was the reaction when I told people I wanted to write a book about an outlaw who discovers a lost world entrance in the wild frontier of the Wyoming Territories.... And that there was dinosaurs in it:

This was the reaction when I told people I'd finished the book and people began to read and critique it:

This was how I felt when I finished the publication process:

And this is how I feel today, with the book finally released on Amazon.

So look at this! Here it is in all it's glory! Woop!

West Of Prehistoric

It's 1885.

Jedidiah Huckleberry Smith spent his entire life searching for the raider who mutilated him as a child. Finally, giving up on a trail long grown cold, he leaves his outlaw past behind and starts over in a remote town in Wyoming.

One dark night his ranch is attacked by a mysterious and ferocious beast from a world lost to time. Only Jedidiah’s savagery and skills save him.

Now, teaming up with a beautiful but naïve paleontologist, they stand between his adopted town and its destruction by an army of barbaric prehistoric apes and dinosaurs. But Jed’s past has come back to haunt him. The man he searched for is discovered in a position of power, and Jed must choose…

Revenge for his past, or the salvation of strangers.

Either way, bullets will fly, and blood will be spilled.

If you buy it, I'd love you forever if you leave an Amazon or Goodreads review. Even a one sentence that says, "This book doesn't suck" means a lot and helps sell more books in the future. (How many times have you looked at a book with no or few reviews and passed on it because no one else risked reading it first? I know I have.)

And since the sequel is already completed, well - the more this one sells the more likely the publisher will pick it up. If this one doesn't sell... no sequel folks. It's just not worth the investment by the publisher. So I'm holding the sequel hostage. MWhahaha.

Right now the Kindle version is available for either the price of $0 if you have Kindle Unlimited, or $3.99 if you don't. The Paperback is $13.95.... (I didn't pick that price. Sorry. I was really hoping it'd come in at under $10.)

Personally, I'm gonna buy about 20 of them(ugh that's gonna be expensive.). And guess who is getting an autographed copy for Christmas? (My entire extended family!)

And finally, this is how I feel as I try to ignore the awesomeness of this moment and work on the third book in the series:

EDIT 6/28/2022 - This book has been a success. And the two that have followed so far. Book IV is in the works! I owe you all for my success. Thank you from the brightest parts of my heart.

That's awesome, congratulations.

Can we get autographs before you get all famous and forget you ever knew us little people?
Congratulations!

I’ll of course be needing it signed by the author at some point....

I'd take a Netflix deal... as long as I can have a cameo getting killed in the final great battle. ;)

If there is enough interest, I'll certainly figure out a method to mail out signed copies.

Again, if I could ask another HUGE favor...

If you read it, please post a review on Amazon/Goodreads/whatever. But also post here and let me know what you think of it. If I fumbled the crap out of something, I'd like to know what to improve. Feedback is invaluable for a newbie author like me.

Audible version soon?

how does it work with the amazon digital credits i get for my no-rush shipping?

Audiobook version?
Sorry to sound like a wuss, but Im not supposed to read much right now (hell, even on the computer Im wearing bluelight glasses and limiting my screentime, but reading a book gives me a quick headache).
Id like to check this out more in full - you sent me an early edit and I read through some of it. I'd like to hear the finished product. Will buy a PB version soon

double like for a lost with references to the best movie ever

I remember reading the first couple chapters. I believe you posted it up here at some point? I thought it was great.
Dude wakes up with a angry stegosaurus in his barn or something of that nature.
Definitely be adding this to my kindle.

I'd like to see pics of her.

Done.

I based it off my wife. :) Who is beautiful and certainly naive, lol.

My mom is partially blind, so I -really- want to do this. I asked the publisher, and basically, I need to sell enough copies to make it worth the financial risk. I've considered the notion of trying to record it myself, I'm told I have a rather deep sexy voice, but I'd hate to put out a crap product. And I'm not sure if I can conquer that learning curve.

I've no idea. Sorry, I don't have much experience with amazon digital credits. :(

Already giving out spoilers? ;)
Congrats on the book. Are there Sleestacks? The last time I saw a portal to dinosaurs.... there were Sleestacks.

LOL. I had to google Sleestacks. No, no Sleestacks. But there is some vicious apes that rip peoples hearts out and eat them. :)

Finished and ready for the next one!

I picture the hero being played by Rod Taylor, for many reasons Jed reminds me of Taylor's starring role in Chuka.

"Get off my train you damn dirty ape!"

You're a fast reader! And I stole/edited that line from Planet of the Apes. :) I figured I had to use it somewhere.

Exactly why I quoted it, best movie line ever! Laughed out loud when I read it and had to explain it to my wife.

Seriously, great read. Well done, I wish you all success and can't wait for the next one.

How many copies is 'enough' for an audiobook version?

Thank you. The sequel is ready and waiting for publishing! And considering how well the book appears to be selling, plus the reviews I'm getting, I'd say it stands a very good chance of being printed. Speaking of which, would you mind leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads for me? That helps drive up sales!

I'm not sure. :( Enough to convince the publisher that there would be a market for one, and for them to invest in paying a professional narrator and audo/editing and what not. Heck, from what I understand, I've got to re-write the book to some extent for the audio version. (Mainly taking out things like, "He said/She said")

No worries, left a review as soon as I finished.

I’m halfway through and am also looking forward to the second one.
I’m thoroughly enjoying it!
Well done!
