Anybody able to place a order? I was denied and the reason was "club" but my GCA membership is current. Now the .30 carbine is no longer listed. I ask some other people today and they we denied also.
Any rifles other than M1s?They only have 30-06 in the South Store and Talladega Marksmanship Park today. The carbine ammo is online only.

They had a full rack of 1903-A3s that had some very nice rifles on it. My buddy bought an RIA postwar rebuild with its original 1941 barrel - ME-1; TE1. It was in great shape and I was shocked it was marked as either a field or rack. I grabbed a service grade 03-A3 with its original 1942 2 groove, mirror bore barrel. It had a scant stock and very nice stock cartouches - it was beautiful. But I put it back because I already have a nice '03-A3 at the house. They also had a full rack of chromed 1903 ceremonial rifles marked as "rack grade". The Garands at the South Store, aside from the service grades were kinda rough. I only saw 1 or 2 that drew my interest - and that mainly only due to them having interesting parts like type-2 lockbars or WRA slant cut op-rods. They did have a lot of WRAs and IHCs, so that was cool.Any rifles other than M1s?
I have never been to the Talladega store, is it worth the drive? I didn't know they had that many rifles available on the racks!
That is a hard question to answer, but it was worth it for me. The value of going in person is that they have grades that are not available for mail ordering. Specifically, they have both field and service grades in stock in the store; as well as WRA and IHC rack specials and expert specials. They even had rack and field grade M1Ds and M1Cs and a rack of very nice 1903-A3s. So if you want one of those grades or makers that are not available on the website, you will HAVE to go to the store to get it - or pay a huge premium buying one from a flipper on Gunbroker. That said, the quality of the "regular" Garand inventory at Anniston seemed to be a bit low on the grading scale. IMHO. But they also have original WW2 leather and canvas slings, WW2 leather 1911 mag holders, original accessories, gauges. ammo and other assorted chotchkes. Then, when you leave there, it is only about 20 minutes to the Talladega Marksmanship Park. They also have a store that has a better selection of Garands, but no 1903s. It also has the other ammo like the 22, pistol ammo, the Creedmoor Sports 167gn match ammo, etc. And if you buy a rifle, you get a free 2 hour pass to shoot at what might be the best shooting range in the country. So my advice is to make it a weekend, hit the store AND the range.
Just my opinion.
