In the video they took him down in front of what looked like a construction fence or something. You sure you measured the right spot? Figueras was the first officer on scene, bot the one that took him out I thought.

I've been doing Google mapping.... shot was not 183 yards. Not even close. Maybe 183 feet?

From video. Note "Mr Collins" and "Officer Figuerras". Figuerras was not that officer who took the shot, but we we our hero roll up to near where other police cars were.

Yellow circle is ~180 yards from down perp.

Still, proper badass quality ending to the situation.
Perp was on South Madison when Munn shot from the corner of S Madison and S 66th

That's nearly a block and a half

That dude was super calm, even his radio traffic was very cool and collected. You can tell the guy was a shooter from the way he handles his rifle and how it’s set up. That’s not a cheap mount at all. Probably invests a lot of his own money in his gear.

"Shot fired, suspect down." Not shots, just...shot. He knew. He never had doubt.

That mount is $549 https://gbrsgroupgear.com/products/gbrs-group-hydra-day-night-optics-mount-aimpoint. I would bet strong money the department did not spring for that.

Here’s the map…

Suspect was down at 6718 S. Madison.

Rough estimate is around 500 feet, or 167 yards.

The owner of another gun forum posted the same video as he is a LEO and that was his department. Said it was a 50/200 zero on the rifle and a 64 grain Winchester Ranger round.

yeah, i just watched the video and you guys have already covered everything i was thinking.
my mental narrative while watching:
-what is this, a starbucks ad?
-shots are going on and that guy is calm
-aimpoint and what freaking mount is that?
-shots are going on and that guy is STILL calm
-uhoh, he's taking his time...
-shoT (one shot) fired, suspect down, usually cops aren't that calm
-technically it's not a hard shot, but that guy should be a firearms instructor for the cops...

I was going to say the same thing.

Great work.

I saw it on twitter, somebody actually replied "is that what the right to a fair trial looks like?" WTF.
Speedy, "fair and speedy trial". It was speedy.

Far enough away that he was not concerned about the perp shooting back.
In the long vid, it says the officer was fired at when he exited the vehicle.

Perp had a .45 and a .300BLK along with the 5.56.

He certainly didn't seem to be unaccustomed to having another human in his sights -
Very cool customer.

I bet they he perp doesn’t have the skill to do it though.
He should have armed skilled himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend go shooting at better shooters

Anyway, an AR is meant for up to 500 yards. guy was only shooting 1/3-1/2 of that. it's not shooting that requires a high degree of skill.

Two things, one I can't believe nobody already said this, TANGO DOWN. And two, a NC two county combined sheriff's debts shot at our range awhile back for training and qualifying. They produced select fire AR's from the trunks of their patrol cars. I was surprised they were select fire and that some of them were actually zero'd.
