What is the current carbon remover of choice? I have been using Slip 2000 carbon killer for the last 5 years and have been over all happy with the results. My bottle is just about empty, want to hear if anything better is on the market before getting a new bottle.

You clean guns?

That was so 1990....

I like all things that are natural. Like olive oil from food lion.

For plain ol get the whatever out I still use Hoppes #9.
I don't do it based on any firing cycle, but if they're gonna sit a while I try to hit 'em.

Bench shooting? Chrome lined barrel or SS?

Bi-pod on the ground shooting steel for fun, one barrel is chromoly barrel, the other is SS.

I'm not trying to start, a which is a better gun oil type question.

Only asking to sort out what type of shooting you're doing when you mention accuracy falling off or carbon removal at 100rds

Both guns, an AR-15 in 223 and an AR-10 in 308, seems to show a drop in accuracy at around 500 rounds. I will usually fire a 100 rounds at a time, I have read that keeping the carbon fouling down is a good thing, but there is no need to do a deep cleaning until the accuracy falls off. For me, after a 100 rounds while the barrel is still warm, I run a wet patch with carbon cleaner down the barrel and put the rifle in the case and come home. At home, I will then run 3 patchs will more carbon remover, waiting about 10 minutes between patches, then run 2 dry patches and put the gun away. Deep cleaning to me is taking the copper out of the barrel.
