Daniel Defense joins RCR #3 team: Taking advantage of the annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Daniel Defense and Richard Childress Racing announced a partnership that will see the leading manufacturer of premium firearms, rail systems and accessories serve as the primary sponsor of the #3 NASCAR XFINITY Series team for select races during the 2017 season. This is Daniel Defense's first venture into NASCAR. The partnership came about after Daniel and Childress became friends through Childress' involvement with the National Rifle Association. The #3 Chevrolet Camaro will feature Daniel Defense's signature black-and-gold logo and will be driven by Ty Dillon and other drivers yet to be announced for select XFINITY Series races.

They are the leading manufacturer in premium firearms?

Good to see that they'll get more exposure for, not just themselves, but, the firearms industry and sport.

That's not cool. They should have picked another number.

They make damn good firearms, yes. Probably should have said "A leading manufacturer...." though

Now I know why a DD barrel is so expensive.

What's the old saying..."nice guys finish last"? I loved The Intimidator. Hell of a driver. I love my 2 DD rifles as well. Happy to see a well known firearms manufacturer, especially one that specializes in top quality AR's, put their money and name out there on a hood for the NASCAR nation to see. Good on them.

Maybe this will help bring back some old fans. Nascar and many other racing venues are having some problems and have been for quite some time now. I doubt it will have an impact but it's a step in the right direction.

In my opinion, racing will never be the same as it was in the old days. It's much safer for the drivers and that is a good thing. But racing will never be like it was in the '60's through the '80's. The advent of a few extremely wealthy team owners dominating the track in multiple motorsport sanctioning bodies, coupled with the over commercialization of the sport and PC rules, throw in cookie cutter race cars, restrictor plates, etc..... in my humble opinion, is motorsport racing's worst enemy.

Highly doubt anyone will start watching again because one car is sponsored by a firearms company.

Expect a price increase.

Based on DD's web page, prices had gone up since the new year. I note that they are now offering a DD5V2 - the 0.308 with an 18" barrel (the V1 has a 16") the MSRP of which now exceeds 3k$.

Boutique ARs

Well, haters gotta hate.

I'll watch...just long enough to check out the car. And that will be it. Racing ain't what it used to be. And my 5 year old son would commence punching me in the junk if I sat down for longer than 10 minutes and not play outside with him.

I may offer that, given the association with an AR pattern rifle or hell, private firearms in general , boutique or no, the number 3 is perhaps the best number.

That is an excellent observation.

Should, of course, have the number 5.56. Couldn't find anything in NASCAR rules that a vehicle number has to be integral.

nbc's head would explode

I doubt NBC would even get it unless someone told them....

the execs at NBC are going to make sure they know where their money/time is going, they'll know what DD is.

Well they chose a good team/driver to fit their image.. ;)

The pairing of DD & RCR probably has more to do with Richard Childress being longstanding NRA board member than anything else. For whatever the reason, I like it.
