Good morning,

Would you be so kind as to reassign Magilla Gorilla to some other task besides tightening barrel nuts? Something more appropriate for his skill set. Maybe he could smash rivets on your AK's with his bare hands?

Sincerely,
Aggravated in NC

P.S. Do your minimum wage workers not know they are supposed to use anti-seize on the threads or do you simply not supply it in order to make things slightly cheaper?

Aside from this thread, what negative things have you heard/experienced about PSA?
Tons of stories about shit QC. My buddy ordered one and the upper receiver was cracked. Took weeks to get it back. They made him send the whole rifle back and not just the cracked complete upper.

I also have friends that have ordered PSAs with no issue. It’s a consistency thing. Sure they will fix it. But why order something that is dorked 50% of the time and could take weeks to fix?

If they spent more money and time on QC, they would save an equal amount of time and money with fixing and exchanging the dog shit they send out that gets returned.

I used to work in the quality department for aac ammo I would never put that ammo through my guns let alone purchase it
I’ve heard of their ammo having jackets separate in people’s suppressors and baffle strike the shit out of them. I would NEVER buy their ammo.

From personal experience:
-I have one of their carbine uppers that's phosphate finished but it got a 6" scratch down the barrel from scrapping against my safe's wall, that is made from cork. Yeah, soft Cork scratched my finish on that gun. Super bizarre.

-Its hard to reach CS and get an answer that's not verbatim from their automated email. I had an order sit for 6 weeks (dagger upper) a year ago, after the 4th week I tried via email/FB/Twitter and got 0 response. When I called, they could only tell me the order is still processing and couldn't dive deeper than that on why the delay/when the order was being processes. It was a non holiday/super sale time as well.
First Hand:
-Ive seen at least 2 guys buy a GF4 or GF5 and get a GF3 that has a 4/5 muzzle brake and CS not wanting to exchange it because it's "the same thing". Never mind the barrel and furniture difference...

Isn't that entity less than a year old? That's pitiful if it's that bad?
Which ammo maker did you work with before?

Queue the PSA simps.
Easy tiger. I own nothing PSA AR. I do have a gf3 ak that I haven't shot yet (almost a year, I don't think I count as an enthusiast anymore). So I have nothing to go off of.

But I do like how they present themselves and I did have an issue with a purchase that started to annoy me. Then a member here got me in touch with an owner (who apparently WILL make it right) as soon as I contacted him. So I am a fan of the business but have no experience with their products to have an opinion..

Wasn’t directing that at you or anyone in particular.

I am not saying that they won’t make it right; I’m saying that their shit overall sucks.

Of note, you can't make the argument that QC is only bad post Covid. This is an upper from way before that I had laying around. Standard M4, never shot it. Thought I would use the upper for another build. Just about destroyed it trying to get the barrel and barrel nut off.

I had a 20 inch upper several years back that had an FSB canted so bad it couldn't be zeroed. I never could get a response from CS about it so I cut off the sight tower and made a pseudo low profile gas block. Torqued so tight I busted the upper removing the barrel to install a FF handgaurd and had to replace it. Put it back together with the new upper, shot it a little, spray painted it a couple times, then sold it.

Bought a complete m4 upper after that (the one mentioned above) with a bcg. The bcg gas key was not staked and would wiggle around. They took it back and repaired it, or sent me a new one, don't know which. Sold it with a build I think.

I don't buy PSA builds anymore.

I’ve had decent experiences from the stuff I got from them. I would agree that their QC seems suboptimal at times but I also appreciate the fact that they are expanding firearms ownership, the 2A community, and they are giving a lot of people entry level options into the AR/AK market. I got my first AR around 2005, a bushmaster that was around ~$1000 at the time. I think it’s pretty cool that I can go online and pick up an arguably better gun now for 1/3 of that price.

They've done a good job on really diversifying what they offer. While other companies promise something revolutionary that ends up being an oil slick finish option, PSA actually delivers. Their ak line, the dagger series, 5.7, JAKL, now the Sabre. Good for them.
In fairness, a lot of stuff turns out to be a fantasy. PSA Mp5 clone by Q1 2019? Nope. We got excuses for years then the mke's delivered the final knockout for that potential a year ago.
Stg44 clone? Hmmm we'll see. Affordable H&R M16 and retro rifles? Nah, cheapest is like $1200.
But just as they consistently put out new options, they consistently have general CQ issues along the way, hence why everyone advises to buy gen2 of whatever they launch as gen1 is the real life extensive field testing.
I buy their stuff when it meets my need. Not sure when/what'll be the next item as everything seems to have gone up at least 10% and their new products aren't really affordable for the casual consumer.

I’ve had nothing but good experiences with my four purchases.
100% success rate with any AR upper/lower I’ve bought from them. Same for a majority of people.

For somebody to make the statement that there’s a 50% chance something is messed up is absurd. But not surprised in this instance.

Have several of their rifles and a few handguns. Some older some newer. Never had any issues from mine and they all come apart fine and go bang each time.

Every gun company has horror stories once a certain production is reached..............

Edit
Good parts arent cheap. Cheap parts arent good. You get what you pay for.

Two Ar15 purchases, both with ramp issues. Ripping slices in cases and jamming. When you buy PSA, buy a file also.

For kicks, I did a budget build with parts I had laying around.

PSA 10.5 upper (5.56)
Toolcraft BCG
Anderson lower
Sprinco blue/H2 buffer
CMMG LPK
No optics / removeable carry handle w/ A2 sight deck

1K in, everything from slow fire at the bench to mag dumps. If anything is going to beat the hell out of the AR platform, it’s a rifle in SBR configuration, especially those around 10”.

So far, no issues (jams/failures/etc). Rounds go where I want them to go.

I've had issues with PSA as well, mainly with their sight tower/gas blocks. Poorly drilled, bent taper pins, straight pins used instead of tapered, misaligned holes on each side of the tower, canted, etc.

Not to mention sending shit signature required with return to sender after second attempt.

I don't think their ARs are constructed for tinkerers that like to swap out parts; I believe they are made for people that like to pile AR parts into their safe.

Little heat goes a long way….maybe it’s just a mechanics perspective but when things are overly difficult to remove, stop and add some heat. Saves destruction.
Tried penetrating oil, torch, and then tried the "stick it in the freezer" all night method. In the end I dremeled the delta ring off and used a pipe wrench with a cheater bar on it.

I read this post a dozen times, trying to figure out how in the world that build cost $1000. Then I realized the 1000 was the round count. 🤓

Key words are “you did a build”. QC isn’t just in the parts but also who puts it together.

I have talked to the "assembly" people in Myrtle Beach. I doubt they understand doing anything correct. Same as their sales team. Hired to fill spots not for skill set
Kinda like taking your car to Walmart to get tires…😳😳😳. 🤣🤣🤣

I like PSA and what they stand for. I've had good luck with them. At the same time there is some stuff I wouldn't buy for certain applications. I think overall they are comparable to ANY other COMPARABLE company. We all know we get what we pay for...just have to use logic. To the OP, why were you removing the barrel? I would not buy a PSA gun to build off of or upgrade but would buy one for a beater or a backup gun.

See post #19.

@CITYPUNS please share your insider experience with the AAC line of ammo! I'm genuinely curious to hear! I run aac almost exclusively, and I'd like to know I'd theres something up I'm not aware of. Hard to beat it when Denver store is 15 mins away and the price is unbeatable.

I've run their 9mm with great luck, seems to always feed and go bang.
The 556 "precision match" loaded with the 77gr SMK has served me very well in matches with good hits out to 700yds in one of those matches. Consistent MVs almost exactly at the advertised 2700fps with SDs across the chrono between 10-15fps on the outings I've measured it.
I'm getting geared up to try their 140gr SMK 6.5cm stuff now.

Please spill the beans!

With PSA, I inspect the upper and parts, adjust as needed. I take the barrel nut off and apply antiseze, then tourque to the proper amount.

I have one of their ar carbine that runs like a champ
Only issue is it doesn’t like steel cased ammo
It is not a colt m16 but didn’t cost as much as one either.
