Welcome shooters! As many know @TNTmx9 has decided to step down as our supreme leader and he will be missed. Hopefully he will join us here and there with some of his fine shooting, There is no way I will be able to fill his shoes but I can at the very least post new matches as the months go by.
over the months that I have participated I have seen a wide level of shooters and have learned a lot from the better shooters. I have had a few months where I was happy to post some ok scores and others where people were getting perfect scores and I couldn’t hit a thing. Frustrating for newer shooters or people who just suck (me). I was actually thinking of maybe having different levels maybe to entice newer shooters in. Just spitballing and really would like to hear some feedback from you all.

Congrats to @#1gohunt for winning our OCT/NOV challenge. Hopefully he has a fun target for us to try over the next few cold months.

Standard CFF Monthly Rimfire Benchrest Challenge Rules
- Target size: standard 8 1/2 X 11 paper
- Target distance: 50 yards
- Any position you like
- Front rests, bipods, front/rear bags, bunny ears.... all are ok
- No full length rifle mechanical rail/sled type rests allowed
- Iron sights or any optics allowed
- All done on the honor system. Shoot it, score it, post it.
- winner chooses the target and challenge for following month
- post copy of target and pictures of your rifle setup and ammo used

Good shooting everyone!

@Amps 13 Thank you for keeping this going. It has been a couple of years since I have shot this, but I still enjoy reading the posts and seeing how everyone is doing.

Awesome to see this still happening. When I recently joined I immediately saw I had missed the Oct/Nov challenge and then saw that it might not be happening for Dec/Jan. Looking forward to participating! Thank you @Amps 13 for keeping it going for everybody including us new guys!

Good shooting everyone!
As promised I have a Target that I think you all will like. I thought it would be a better choice after that Spooky Spider target. Good luck to every one.

Ok folks, looks like we will be hitting the links in winter. this will be a par 3 golf course. So only 3 shots per round. If we get a tie score they will move out to 75 yards and shoot 9 shots. Most hole in ones wins.
any issues with that?
if not then good shooting!

I have been asked about the holes on this Golf target. The hole on the lower left doesn't have the lighter colored ring around it and measures .423" while the other 8 holes with the lighter outside ring measures approximately .5". I am going to say that the Darker area is the actual hole.

I am new to the forum and noticed this challenge. If all goes well, I will give it a try and post results. Testing out a new set up for my CZ 457. I read the rules and it looks straight forward. Hoping to try some NRL 22 matches next year.

Glad to have you here on this Challenge. My Golf target has received a little bit of criticism due to one hole. I have added some information concerning this and scoring info.

I say we run with this new one. Let’s drop the tie breaker hole in one idea. If we get a tie then move out to 75 yards and shoot 9 at at each link and call a winner. So we (more like me) are not just throwing rounds into paper till we hit the hole why don’t we limit it to 3 tries per hole.

Any objections?

No objections, can you doctor the rules up to show that change?

So score it as a par 3 course, but 3 max per hole.

Different levels would be nice....or at least open sights vs optics. I've been trying to get my friends into precision .22lr but they don't really have anything dedicated(my friends that won a contest for vets at a local range uses an AR trainer...but recently accidentally purchased a bunch of Eley .22lr so we'll see how that goes)....I don't think any of them have optics on their .22s.

Date: 12-7-2022
Rifle: Anschutz 64 SBR
Scope: Weaver T-36
Ammo: Eley Target 40gr lrn
Weather: 74 deg, south wind 5mph
Bear: only one this morning

Not positive on scoring but I believe a 9 on target #1 and a 10 on target #2. I was quite happy with the results since it has been a long time i have shot rifle. Had a flyer on second target, lower left. Bear was on his morning walk. They are always around.

Great shooting! Always in the top

First attempt at this target. Location is the FOP Range #10. The Police were using the Range today so I had to improvise on a different range. It started raining just as I was finishing up so I put equipment up and headed home. I scored the target after getting home. I was using my Winchester 52 C and Norma Rifle Match. Score was a 14.

Just curious, when I first joined this site we had a shooter who shot 3 different Rifles. Old man hub, was his thread name. Anybody know anything about him.

@#1gohunt Good job? How do you like the Norma Match? I was thinking of ordering some to see how my rifles like it.

It usually performs better than what I did today. I shot some competitions using Lapua Center X and had to adjust my budget. The Norma Rifle Match seems to perform about the same. I have tried a variety of ammo and so far it is the best. I haven't tried the Eley yet but it looks like your Rifle likes it.

Good shooting. Hard to follow you two but I will be posting tomorrow night as headed to range in morning. I have started to get some better ammo to test (usually use CCI standard) but tomorrow will have to be CCI standard. Not ready for the testing but do have SK standard plus, Eley Target, Eley prime, Eley tenex, wolf match target and Norma Tac-22.

I won't be able to get to the range until next week, but assuming we shoot a 9, should we go ahead and shoot at 75yds too or just wait?
If you are there and shoot a 9 you might as we’ll try from 75. I won’t need to 😕

In that rifle I only shoot Eley. I have a couple of Beretta Olympia 22s that I am looking for some decent ammo for and not cost a fortune. My other rifles will shoot very good with just about anything except for thunder bolt. I do not like that stuff at all.

I am going to shoot one next month. I have to do a hundred yards though. Rifle range (Outer Banks Gun Club) has set distances on the rifle range. So no choice.

What is the name of your Rifle Rest and where did you get it?
Caldwell Rock on Amazon. Back in 2014. It comes with both rest. reg and wide

Edit: They went up $18
