When a forum member passes, is there a reason why their posts are no longer available to be searched? I just thought that there is a lot of knowledge and wisdom that is lost when someone ceases to “exist” not only physically, but electronically as well.

Maybe I’m missing the big picture, but it sure would be nice to be able to find their old posts when doing a search. It allows them to still contribute to the community even after they are gone.

“When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us.” - Frederick Buechner, WHISTLING IN THE DARK (1988)

Maybe it's me and my computer, but when I was trying to find a post from a forum member who passed away, I could not find it, nor could I find their profile. Is it just my computer skills or lack therof?

I think he's looking up Duke Fan 85 and can't find him.
It was actually something MuShu Gordon had said years back and I was trying to search it. Then realized that I couldn't see any of the posts from members who are now gone.

Just you

I.e., @REELDOC

Their name doesn't show up in a drop down menu in the search feature like other members names do. But if I type in their name and just hit return it takes me to their posts.

Thankfully the posts weren't gone. What was concerning me was that when I would use the search feature to search by user name, the names of deceased members were not showing up in the drop down box, making me think they weren't searchable anymore. But they are. You just have to type their name in and hit "enter" instead of choosing from the drop down list of names.
